I'm going with Risky Steve on this one. Bond brokers/agents can make quite a bit of money in the construction field. Yes the "permit" type of bonds are low premium but they also only take about 3 minutes to issue and can lead you in to the larger arena, the payment and or performance type ...

And so now having read all these posts...are you sure you want to change? *hahaha

Just kidding, we all of course have our own opinions and experiences, good, bad and/or indifferent.

Just be sure to DO THE HOMEWORKbefore you take the exam (so to speak).

Having been on both sides...

Having been an independent agent for more years than I care to mention and having been on the direct writer side (regardless of the company) I will say independence is wonderful however, to get apppointed is not as easy as it appears. What was said about a biz plan, loss history and such is great, b...

You say you enjoy the commercial end but would rather be on the company side??? Having worked both sides through the years I wonder why anyone would want to be on the company side... corporate meetings, goals, deadlines etc and more importantly, your income is basically limited where as an agent......

I'm in Texas as well. The best place to get your E&O (cost & coverage wise) will be thru IIAT. If you are not a member you will need to join. Another option is that IF you are contracted with Infinity Insurance, they also have a program soley for their agency force. You of course can broker...

Stand alone Hired/NOA for trucking company

I have a small (4 trucks) trucking company in Texas (for hire) that needs Hired/NOA. They are presently with Progressive but due to the fact they are "for hire" Prog won't write this part of the coverage. Any suggestions?

It is hard to say not knowing your area. Mine is 1.8MIL so there ya go. Truly, I think anything is possible if you staff yourself correctly and make service your top priority. I opened my main & a satellite at the same time and now I am going to staff withg outside producers. Commercial & li...

Well I have done the best of both. I was an independent that is now NW (Nationwide). I adored being independent but the times they are a changing! Like all direct writers NW has it's moments but having done all my homework (and having had a hubby who'd been with Allstate and friends with Farmers and...

Allstate doesn't offer that type of contract (per se) or we would all have tried tha gammit somwhere along the way. The agencies that do have the "dual" agreement are typically rural agents and were (are) the only game in town. The other thing is that like so many have done...they do a &qu...

To me the best system is Applied however one needs the $$. For a small agency I also suggest QuickFile. It is $500 a year and the updates are online and they have all the Acord forms and such. If you want to take a look at them go to http://www.quickfile.net (they have a comparative rating program a...

So I see Superior Access and I see InsuranceNoodle... do both of them offer commercial & personal lines? Are their programs available in Texas? I would like to make a couple of comments When I get asked by a client if a company is good or bad, I state the same...I believe the companies I represe...

Just want to comment about E&O....the best pricing (and coverage offered) in my opinion is thru Big I. I'm sure that PIA also has a similar offering so I'd contant them. Lastly, contact either assosiation as they normally have some type of agreement with companies that you can license with. And ...

I have been in the business for 30 years now but also opened my agency only a while back (October 2002). I think your volume is commendable considering you aren't writing auto. I do not know whereyou are located but in Texas (so I would presume in all the States) Big I has a program that you can go ...
