We'll take a look at adding state data and filtering in a couple weeks.

Should we limit this feature to the "Hard-to-Place markets" forums? or allow all new topics an option to associate a state?

The forums have become a place for a wide variety of topics and a lot of activity.

Should we add new topic areas? Or keep it simple? What else?

What software are you using? Hopefully you are using commercial grade scanning hardware. These 2 are key factors.
