I work for an independent agency with pretty strong Comp market ties. But I've used a wholesale facility in the past that I thought was phenominal as they specialized in comp, so you might try the following.
IFIS: International Facilities Insurance Services in Los Angeles.
Good Luck!

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation
ok Rob,
last question,
if ownership will be the same for the building and the operation of the new business....
Get a GL policy on a BOP for the new Yogurt shop and be done with it. Should be able to rate on-line with any of the standard markets...
Then hire your GC get your certs... finito....

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation
An LRO policy could still work if he has ownership of the building under his individual name, and the business will be under a seperate entity name. There are many building owners leasing buildings back to their businesses which are under LRO....

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation

Rob, My opinion is that your Building owner still needs his own GL policy. Whether he uses insured subs or contracts with them direct merely goes to who pays the most premium for the exposures. LOU
Agreed. So I need to find a carrier that ...

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation
"If the contractor is a sole prop without workers compensation or if he does have employees and is excluded from his own policy, couldn't he potentially sue for injury as a result of something on the premises not related to his own construction activities?" Add this thought... If he's excl...

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation
Ok Rob here's my two cents: Cut through all the 'what ifs' and advise him this; DON'T do the work yourself, hire a fully licensed and insured GC to do the TI and assume the liability for the project, that's why Contractors contract! Then get AIs for the Liability and Work comp policies. Worry about ...

Re: Seeking Workers Comp Markets - CA and Multi-State
Try these guys. I've used them in the past and they've been very capable. They have multiple carrier access and were usually very resposive. It's been a few years since I've used them since the agency I'm with now has great direct market access, but I doubt they've changed too much. International Fa...

Re: Is anyone using social marketing in their agency?
My two cents.... Social networking sites are not set up for or even allowing for any true prospecting for any businesses. At most they might offer the option of placing a non-interactive banner ad on their site. And as stated previously, when people are on their personal sites they're not there to d...

Re: Best decision?
Ok new2, Without a book to bring with you what you have to consider would be the market access each agency offers and if your prior experience meshes with their market commitments and agency plan. For instance, if you have good experience in writing garage risks but one of these agencies has no mark...

Re: Best decision?
One other consideration, If being "coded" a book of business to service on behalf of the agency, what commission level will you be paid on that business and how long will this part of the agreement last? Is this business permanently yours or do they take it back after 1 year, 2 years? And ...

Re: Best decision?
Hi new2, Here's my 2 cents worth. Option 2 looks more attractive but my questions to you are thus; Are you an experienced producer? Will you bring a book with you? What are your qualifications to write new business? Earn future commissions? Recommendations on which option is a better 'fit' for your ...

Hi Jeanette, Seems like it shouldn't be that difficult to cover even though he's not hauling with his own trucks. Not sure if they'll help but you might try MPI in Fullerton. Call 714-525-5656 and ask for Karen. They do a good deal of trucking and might have the facilities to assist you! If not mayb...

Re: You're Boring
Big Dog, Having been on the insurance side you do know what value the agent has or should have. What you're saying here is that you've got the wrong agent. An agent who doesn't take the time and expend the energy to understand your needs based on how you see them from an internal standpoint, as well...
