Re: Partnership Questions
When I went from captive to Independent I was going to partner with 2 other agents. We all had a number of years experience. However, as we progressed with agreement discussions things became non-productive and broke apart. Luckily we did not all go into business together. We are all still IA's and ...

Re: Software - Agent, not Agency
Sunny - I had the same problem. I wanted to just pay for the software and go from there. I used a program for a while and then decided $150 a month for the junk I had was not worth it. I was in the Information Technology area for 14 years before going into insurance. I bought Sage ACT! and modified ...

Re: Farmers - your opinion
I have read so many comments regarding FIG. I would have to say if you are a captive agent, all of this applies. I was a captive for over 7 years. I had a built a nice book of business as well as a good reputation. I had put my heart and soul into my office and one day, it was gone. I listened while...

You may want to check and see if some one like ACE (http://www.acegroup.com/us-en/) could handle something like this. I know they do a great deal in the international market.

Re: Android Applications/Insurance Related
I have an android tablet and love it. Many of the companies are slowly coming out with applications but you are limited. Now, as for the iPad, there are applications but they are geared towards the client and not the agent. The agent's main link is the web and with some of the browsers used in the a...

Re: Why bother with an agency management system?
The problem with most of the systems today are quite simple, they are designed for the office with lots of Agents, multiple locations and all sort of other items which I as a smaller office do not require. I looked at every system out there and found flaws in every single one. Basically I took all o...

Re: Why bother with an agency management system?
I had a problem with the online systems I looked at and the one I tried. They were slow, went down if your internet went down and I hated not having the necessary control of the data. I also wanted to be able to make changes to the information I could input, etc. The list just kept going and going. ...

Re: 3 Properties in Texas?
I write in Texas and there are many companies who write stand alone dwelling policies here in Texas. You may want to try American Risk. It really depends on where the properties are and what the value of them are. You can email me at tbeyer@thebeyeragency.com and I can assist you.

Re: Lifted trucks - who insures them? Above 6''
I am not sure what State you are in but normally Progressive is the best for this market. I have several clients with these type trucks. I would suggest you obtain pictures of the vehicles for your files even if Progressive does not require them.

Re: TX - Wind Coverage for Galveston County
By the way - very rude on the person to put an add on your question.
OK - only company to handle the Windstorm down in that area is Texas Windstorm. Period. End of Story. Elvis has left the building.
Hope this helps.

Re: Credit cards for commercial
I do quite a bit of business in the non-standard market along with all other lines. I actually have a different office suite for the non-standard. So - with that in mind I must accept debit and credit cards and do so on a regular basis. With the non-standard market you have many companies who do not...

Re: Farmers Insurance
In regards to Omnisure about opening an IA. I totally agree. However, there can be problems with this. I was with a captive company for many years and when they found out my wife had obtained her license and was appointed with other companies they threw a fit and cut my contract. According to the &q...

Re: Progressive Personal Lines
Scott - I have represented Progressive for about a year. Their rates for standard and non-standard business are very good. Plus they have some fantastic Commercial markets. Now, you are not going to place all of your business with them but with a stand-alone auto they are one of your major players. ...

Re: Independent looking to sell Health and Life
I too am heavily involved in Personal and Commercial lines but felt I was doing my clients a dis-service by not offering life insurance. I do have my license for L&H and used it for quite a while but became unhappy with all of the work involved in doing a life application. During a CE class on E...

Re: Agency Management System
I have read so many of the responses here and after looking at all of the systems I just went with InsurancePro about a year ago. I will be honest it is a limited system. For the price it is good but for the monthly cost it is just not worth it. (InsurancePro is made by the same people who do Turbor...
