Re: Screen Printer

1) Re-consider Hartford and ask them to exclude the employee dishonesty. I used to be an underwriter with them and they do have a form for it. You are probably going to have a hard time getting them crime coverage anyway unless they can show that they have controls in place to prevent it from happen...

Re: Contractors Professional Liability

Travelers is doing GL for a bridge designer? On standard paper? What kind of limit? Boy, the market must be soft. The E&S option you have for the prof liab sounds strange in that it covers only the work of subs. That makes me suspicious that the GL is also screwy. You might want to take a good h...

Nope. Excluded via intentional acts and via a specific endorsement. D&O with EPLI is the way to go.

And be ready for big premium, I seem to remember getting Lexington quotes for this a few years ago starting at $25k.

Re: Help with a Niche

What do you have experience in? Have you worked in restaurants, construction, transportation, anything? Perhaps use that as one place to start with something you already know a bit about. Then go to what interests you. Have you always been interested in biotech? Aviation? Anything else? The idea her...

Re: CGL Exclusions

Alaina - this is why people who sell insurance need to be licensed. It is complex as it must follow the laws involved which are also complex. Unfortunately insurance folk are usually equal to used car salesmen in most peoples estimation. Just with the bit of studying you've done so far you know more...

Re: Personal Auto Policy - Teen Driver and Title Issues

I had the same issue when I was doing PL. Resident minor relative = parents still liable. Even if the auto is titled in the kids name the parents will still get brought in ESPECIALLY if they have deep pockets. At least he is smart enough to separate his PL and CL. So many of our large commercial cli...

Re: Child Away at College with Car

I misread Ericpaulsens entry, thought it said all students enrolled in college must register their car. Good news and nice catch, Furrie Princess!

Re: Child Away at College with Car

Wow, the CA rules suck. Another way for them to make money and since they have mismanaged things so severely that they are nearly bankrupt I guess they have to fight for every penny they can. A key to me would be this: if your daughter is attending a public school and is paying non-resident rates yo...

Re: Child Away at College with Car

You should be able to keep the car on your policy. You have an insurable interest and if your kid is at fault in an accident they will go after the registered owner - you. When I did personal lines this came up often. Garaging can & will make a difference in premium. I was in Iowa at the time, h...

Re: Healthcare Reform

All of you are equating health insurance with health care. You have fallen into the same mindset that most of the country has - that you must have health insurance to obtain health care. Think of the word insurance. You buy auto liability to provide coverage in case of an accident, right? Odds of a ...

Re: Automatic Water Shut Off

Most new water supply lines for dishwashers have a built in non-electronic sensor that shuts it off if it senses that something is wrong with the appliance. Have one of these in my house. It has not kicked in yet so can't be 100% sure it works. Not familiar with anything for whole house but it sure ...

Wrote a residential plumbing contractor a few years ago. Question on supp app "do you do any trenching" they answered "no".

A few days before policy starts they have a worker killed, suffocated when a trench collapsed.

Cancelled the coverage for misrepresentation.

Re: What Agents Like and Don't Like

Both the positives and negatives could easily have been cut in half - much of these were repeats. My favorite negative: carrier underwriting. What, you expect them to say yes to putting your blasting contractor on a retail BOP? Preffered rates for your DUI guy? Much of this sounds like whining but I...
