Re: Producer Agreement/Contracts
In general I have to agree with mccluney . I didn't go to an attorney that specialized in insurance but I did use my own locally to review the contract, which I wrote myself . using a company contract as a guide. I started out life, like many independents, with Farmers Insurance Group, and used that...

Re: State Farm Personal articles insurance?
jhonnydeep, I agree with kevinraz and I did pull out an AAIS " Scheduled Personal Property " endorsement and the loss settlement would pay the least of 1) Actual Cash Value if not replaced or 2) the amount for which the property could reasonably be expected to be repaired or replaced. 3) a...

Re: selling flood insurance
Thanks everyone. When quoting a home do you seperate the premiums, or do you roll it up in one package? Do you roll up the premiums in " one package " when you are quoting Home and Auto with the same carrier? I suspect that you break the premum up by policy or coverage. However if you do ...

Re: Horace Mann
My personal experience with Horace Mann was with an agent that I had experience with, before he became an insurance agent. He ran a barter/service exchange program that that the Department of Consumer and Buinsess services eventually shut down for ethical reason. I ran into him again through a custo...
Re: insurance
An interesting concept... forced medical insurance. In Washington State we made auto liability insurance mandatory back in the '80s. At the time 10% of all drivers involved in an accident had no insurance . Almost 30 years later we have... you guessed it... 10% of all drivers involved in an acciden...

Zurich has just been fined by the Connecticut Department of insurance for $235,000 due to different rating infractions and licensing issues with agents and claims representatives... This is not the first time that they were fined for similar errors and as long as the current management team is in c...

Re: Farmers Insurance
Farmers U has diminished the usefullness of the DM . Become more of a terminator then a trainer. Soon as my old DM gets his district down to five agents, what do you think Farmers will do to him? DM is supposed to stand for District MANAGER . The truth is thatit really stands for MANGLER since too ...

Steve & Justthere - it's good to hear something positive about FIG. I still think they are a good company but like any company they will go through good & bad times. May your success continue! Kevin, I think that I remember that you are an ex-FIG or may still be a Current FIG. One of the th...

Re: Farmers Insurance
i have worked with a doezen agents in switching from Farmers to and independant. there is a non solicitation clause in your Farmers agreement but if you have a signed release from each insured stating that you did not solicit them , you are safe and so is your payout from Farmers. Re: Independent looking to sell Health and Life
I agree in part with wlunday that you can spread yourself too thin. Health Insurance however more closely paralells P&C than Life does and the income from health is consistent. My retention from health is good and it represents about 20% of my monthly revenew which is outstanding since I only pl...

Re: coverage on property with adult foster care business
I don't think that you'll find a standard market for an HO-3. I used Monticello through Superior U/W for one where I had an HO-3 with the PE&O for the adult foster care several years ago. I think that MId-Valley GA http://www.midvalleyga.com/ would be a better choice right now with or without th...

Thanks ........ My current contract states that all the clients I bring in are mine, so I'm really an in house producer, but I also service the companies clients as well as clients other producers bring in. ....... My new boss took on a new partner who now wants us to sign non-compete contracts tha...

Thanks everyone..... Re: looking for some guidance on startup agency
qz4k5y I think that if you will read a lot of these posts you will find that there are many ex-FIG agents on the IA side right now. I started out with FIG in a hard market and feel that for start up agency that's not a bad deal because a lot of insured's are shopping and your not burdened with a lo...

Re: Attorney considering CPCU- thoughts?
As joel66 said the CPCU would be advantageous in claims and as St.CaptiveGuy said the National Alliance CRM Principals of Risk Management would also be helpful in getting a foot in the door. One other direction that you might want to consider, already having the JD, would be completing the entire CR...
