Annuities

I have long thought that there are opportunities for independent agents in annuities.

Here's an article that recently appeared in Forbes.

You may like the article or you may disagree with many points made. Either way, its a great way to start the conversation with some of your current clients.

Progressive Personal Lines

A recent survey in Agent and Broker reported that 73% of agents represented Progressive. That was twice the next carrier, Hartford, represented by 38% of agents. I rarely hear agents talk about Progressive. They are one of the few companies (off the top of my head) that sells direct and through agen...

Re: Agent Selection in the Bid Process - Case Study

Ugg!

BTW, its a good thing you were there. I don't think I have ever set up a situation where agents presented with competitors in the room. In 20 years of selling insurance I dont recall presenting under those circumstances either.

Gonadal gumption.

New, it isnt your misspellings...

Your posts are almost cryptic. I have to admit I do not know what you are asking or what your point is.

Maybe I'm being thick.

Re: Agent Selection in the Bid Process - Case Study

Followup... The public entity has moved forward as I described. I notified each unsuccessful agent by email inviting conversations. All called me. There was certainly disappointment. However, all professed to understand (what are the going to say?). I am confident that the right choice was made for ...

Dealing with the Press

I put myself "out-there" and get two of three requests each week from the press. Sometimes its background and sometimes they are looking for quotes. Yesterday I heard from a reporter with whom I had worked many times. She works for a major national news org. Her topic of interest was perso...

When opportunity knocks, open the door.

Check this guy out. If he is the real deal you have a tremendous opportunity here.

Rhetorical questions - What are your downsides? Why wouldn't you do this?

Re: Az newbie

I guess you want to sell insurance. You go to the trouble of getting a license but can not find a place who will let you sell? Due respect, if you can't sell your way into a job, how successful are you going to be selling insurance? Further, you want us to take the time to help you when you can't ev...

Re: Agent Selection in the Bid Process - Case Study

In neither the public entity nor the bank is anyone bidding yet. (Im sure I already said this.) Nobody is practice bidding. I have asked agents if the would like to be considered. They are free to say no. If they say yes they fill out a questionnaire and, perhaps, come to an interview. The public en...

Re: Agent Selection in the Bid Process - Case Study

The agents I am meeting with next week are not ducks. Each has more than 20 years of experience. The three competitors with the current agent were selected by me because of their exceptional abilities. One I have known for 10 years and the other two I have known for twenty. All three of the agents I...

Re: Marketing Marketing Marketing

Teleseminars are a great way for any insurance agent to promote their expertise. Many agents have done seminars and made speeches. A teleseminar means that you don't have to leave your office and your audience also does not have to travel. The recording of the session can be used for years afterward...
