Re: Diminishing Role of the Agent for P&C Insurance

There will always be a segment of the population that wants to buy insurance online, especially auto insurance. The size of this segment as a percentage of the general population is fixed and saturation is not far off. Barring another technical, social, or some other type of major shift or change, a...

Massachusetts Credit Scoring

I've come across conflicting information about the use of credit scoring in Massachusetts. Some sources say it is banned for all personal lines insurance products, while others say it is allowed for homeowners and not personal auto. Can anybody shed some light on this murky topic?

Thanks.

Re: Excluded Driver Surcharge

As I understand it, Arizona law requires insurers to provide minimum liability coverage for all "household members" that reside with the named insured, even if that "household member" is excluded from the policy. I'm thinking that companies in Arizona surcharge for the exclusion ...

Excluded Driver Surcharge

I've noticed that some companies in Arizona surcharge for an excluded driver on personal auto policies. Is this common in Arizona? In other states? Any other thoughts or comments about surcharging an excluded driver?

Thanks.

Re: bankruptcy

Contrary to michga11's post, bankruptcy policies are no longer difficult to obtain. It used to be hard to find someone to write the risk due to the inherent lack of money of those seeking such policies, but as with many types of risks, the non-admitted market has risen to the occasion. I work with a...

Re: Food Truck - Full Coverage - CA

I have a feeling that Alex Chris and Petra Filiz are the same person and they're just posting to drive traffic to the link in their signature line "Insurance Reviews" which takes you to www (dot) dailyinsurancereviews (dot) com that my company's web filtering software categorizes as malici...

CA Prop.17 - Portable Persistency

Mercury is pushing hard for the passage of Prop.17 which allows California auto insurers to offer persistency discounts to new business as long as they've maintained coverage with their previous carrier. Will it pass?

Farmers for Independent Agents?

I was under the impression that if you sold Farmers products you only sold Farmers products, but recently noticed that Farmers rates are available in comparative raters such as FSC. Anybody know why that is? Are Farmers products available to independent (non-captive) agents?

CA HO3 Loss Surcharges

I know many companies surcharge prior losses but am not clear whether or not this applies if the cause of loss is fully remedied.

Thanks.

How do agents handle credit scoring?

When an agent is quoting a personal lines policy how is credit scoring handled? Is a hard score ordered from each carrier? Does the agent ask the client what they think their score is and issue a quote based on that estimate? Does a comparative rater (e.g. FSC) pull a hard score and use that for eve...

Arizona Photo Radar Tickets

Does anybody know if Photo Radar tickets issued in Arizona are chargeable for insurance purposes? I know they weren't a while back but there was a push to change that.

Thanks!

Re: How's Your Marketing?

Our agency shows up as No.1 on Google, No.4 on Yahoo! and No.2 on Bing and we are competing with roughly 10 other agencies that have the exact same name. We also rank high in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) for many other keywords we targeted. I taught myself how to code HTML and CSS so I di...

Re: Guaranteed Replacement Cost for HO3

AAA writes Guaranteed Replacement Cost in California under their YourHome Advantage program, unfortunately as an independent agent I cannot write AAA. California Capital and Century National do offer 200% RC which, as an independent, is the closest to Guaranteed RC I can find.

Re: Wawanesa Insurance - Counter Points against this company

I have never heard of them. Also I don't know who you have access to but I do know that if what you say about them being so much cheaper, they won't be around long! Wawanesa is a direct writer that's been writing in California since 1975 and has continued to grow into the 20th largest auto carrier ...
