Re: Excluded Driver Surcharge

You are correct, there are two types of exclusions: 1) Excluding a driver from the policy and all coverage. An example would be a person who has had their license taken away or has no license. There should be no charge for this as no coverage is provided. 2) Excluding a driver from a vehicle but not...

BOP/CPP Liability Rating

Does anyone know if there are any companies that rate different liability rates by address or territory based on NAIC or SIC designations. IE, a plumber in Kansas City would get a different rate than one in St. Louis.

Re: Excluded Driver Surcharge

I have worked with a lot of insurance companies in various states. The one time I saw something like this, I reported it to the department of insurance and they promptly spanked the company for a applying a non-filed surcharge ($2500). This is charging for a non-coverage. How can a company charge fo...

Re: What will it take to Sell?

I would agree with Rainmaker on one point: This is a great time to be growing your agency. I see many traditional older agencies struggling. I also see a lot of smaller new agencies, less than six years old, growing by leaps and bounds. They are independent, finding new ways to sell, stressing servi...

Re: Trusted Choice

I don't know where you are mhutch, but I can tell you that in the midwest, Trusted Choice is not a pervasive household mark. I know a lot of agents, with 10+ years that would have no idea what it is. Some agents have sold for a handful of companies for many years, do not participate with agent assoc...

Re: Insurance rating software

If you really want choice, be sure to let your carrier representatives know that. The problem is that carriers are very selective about letting new vendors play in the realtime sandbox. As long as agents continue to do as they are doing now, they will continue to have few choices. The current rating...

Re: Internet Security

FYI, We have two networked Brother laser printers, each less than $500, one black and one color. Been in service with regular inhouse maintenance for 3+ years. We also have an HP color copier $300 in service for 5+ years. Our scanner is a server networked Fujitsu, $300, and awesome fast. I'm guessin...

Funny,

I thought, "i think that stuff can be done on AMS. if it can't, then we don't really need it." was a downright advertisement!

GRRRRRRRRRowl!

What happened to obeying the law? If you don't like it, get it changed. If you want to see what happens to a country when its citizens start picking and choosing which laws to follow, just look at Mexico!

Re: Insurance rating software

The real problem is not the vendors. It is the insurance companies. Agents need more competition. The current vendors are fat and content with splitting the market. This has happened because insurance companies have restricted who they work with. With an open policy towards vendors, agents would see...

Re: High value estimators

This is the reason, We are seeing more companies and agents move towards ACV instead of RCV. RCV is going to be higher in this market. Its the way it should be. Used cars are worth less than new, and so should homes. It is the sign of a healthy market instead of the way out of wack market we have ha...

Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

I know of no rule of such in NY. It may be that the insurers you are referring to just don't want to handle adverse notifications on renewal. I know that the renewal practice is quite prevalent. Insurors check insurance score, MVR, protection class, estimated valuations, etc at renewal but may do it...

Re: CA HO3 Loss Surcharges

Roughly half of reported losses are to Choicepoint "Clue" and the other half of reported losses go to ISO's "A+" with overlap on all the big companies. A LOT of losses are not reported to either service. The ideal situation is that all companies report to both Clue and A+. Every ...
