Re: 1st Year as a Producer Stories
Dude you are way ahead of me already in that you are "marrying well". I worked for a large carrier for 20 or more years, opened my own agency 4 years ago. My career took me to Longbeach Ca for one year. Would be interested in what part of Ca you are in. My first year was scary and exciting...

Re: High Value homes in brush
Good info, I just lost a wonderful opportunity involving PC 10 primary house value 800k, 10 auto, 6 motorcycle, lake-house and boat opportunity because of this hangup. shopped it through multiple markets currently with Farmers. Liberty Mutual gave it a indication quote but no underwriting approval. ...

Re: What is your biggest pain as an agent?
Rodrag, Congratulations if you are writing commercial insurance with this method. Wish I could, I have one account that requires 150 certs. of Insurance per year (happy to have it though). Are you contracting out this type of service? If so where??

My problems are the same as town agent. My only add would be IT issues from standpoint of systems failing and time to get back up.

Re: WC account Losses 189 X-mod hard class codes
Guys we don't have enough data to label this customer as having a bad safety program. This may be one claim where fraud or a recurring of an existing injury has occurred. Also could be a claim that was not managed well by the insurer, i.e. no IME's ordered, RTW pushed, etc. My guess is that this acc...

Re: Newly Independent Agent - Best Carrier Access Platform
Hi there I have been a independent one arm paper hanger for several years in Austin TX. I go through a cluster arrangement for access to many admit markets. I pay a $300 monthly fee and get 65% commission if I use their companies I always have to fill out the Accords. I use "Doris" for sof...

Re: Why I believe in insurance agents
Michael Jans, I know what you mean. Actually the Farmers commercial absolutely depresses me. The Lizard has become a drag as they have worn it out, like the song from the 70's "You Light Up My Life", However the most dreadful other than Farmers is the pig on a monorail from Geico. But, I g...

Re: Track Your CSR's Daily Sales Activity
Big Dog is right on. Worked for a large insurance company for many years and saw this activity first hand. The micro management will kill moral and be distasteful to people whom produce.

Try Sams Club, they have a competitive rate and easy to use virtual terminal web based. I am in Austin, TX. and got about three quotes. They had the best deal. I am a small agency so do not have the cash flow of some of the bloggers.
