Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials
Luckily for me, I have my employer paying for the courses, but I can't imagine how I would have to spend the approx 2,000 to 3,500 depending on what supplemental material you purchase to further your education for AICPCU courses. As for obtaining my B.S. in Business, if my employer didn't pay for it...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials
When you buy Burham's books you agree not to allow anyone else to use the material. We are not to be bound by our word? Interesting (sic) ethical position. I think this is one reason why I will not buy those books. I am under the impression by using Code of Professional Ethics that if I buy the boo...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials
I would be curious if anyone has used keir or burnham books for 520 and beyond. Once I pass those courses, I have no problem selling those. I don't know anything about Keir. I do know the Burnham System and the excellent work Ray Burnham does. His books and his condition of sale specifically forbid...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials
Goodluck88- I have the 510 book, but will not be completed til after 2010 Joel66 – I have the Keir 520 study book. Let's work something out. I would be open to trade material for future classes if you have any. Maybe a GenY question… but should we start a Facebook group for used cpcu study material...

Re: SMART Practice exams (CPCU 510)
I just did the Final Practice Exam this morning and got a 66%. Not sure if I take practice exams from now until Sunday and read the entire course guide three times if I will be ready by the 17th, or wait another week.

SMART Practice exams (CPCU 510)
I have taken about 5 Full Practic Exams for CPCU510. I noticed it says they are randomly generated from a bank of questions, but in my case, almost all of them are the same. As anyone else noticed the same thing?

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials
I plan to keep my 510 book I just purchased on July 1st. The ISBN for my text book is 9780894632846 I noticed some of these books selling on Amazon for as low as 45 dollars to 70 which includes course guide. I would be curious if anyone has used keir or burnham books for 520 and beyond. Once I pass ...

Re: CPCU - Worth it right now?
The 520 I found to be fairly easy...same w/ the financial exams (finance background). I felt the 530 - Insurance Law, contained the most material of all the exams. Probably just barely made it over the 70 pt threshold! Regardless, if you should have questions or concerns with any of the material fe...

Re: CPCU 510 woes
I really enjoyed reading your journey toward your CPCU twinky. A co-worker of mine was sharing the same type of story about his manager that took the CPCU off and on for over 20 years and was really excited to get this done.

Re: CPCU 510 woes
I truly appreciate everyone's feedback and words of encouragement. I think the problem that I had was underestimating the course and trying to rush through it. Funny thing, I just got my business degree a few weeks ago and when I took all my courses, I would first read the chapter to get a general i...

Re: CPCU 510 woes
How close was the Review Notes book covering the Educational Objectives from the real test? I'm thinking of just creating flash cards based on the Educational Objectives. I think my problem was just reading all 15 pages of the Review Notes, Course Guide, and Book and it was so much information. I ha...

CPCU 510 woes
I just started my studies on July 1st and did my first practice test on the SMART online exam on 14th and was really bummed out I only got like 40% The steps I have done so far is the following: Prior to reading the chapter 1 text, I first did chapter 1 flash cards, then read Review Notes, Cou...

Re: CPCU - complete 12-18 months?
Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to my first course, as I just placed the order. In regards to the burnhamsystem, I tried his system during my "Program in General Studies" and found it to be a good program. I decided to purchase the "CPCU 510 Comprehensive Package (Include...

Re: CPCU - complete 12-18 months?
I agree, I know it's going to be very challenging and will not have any idea until I complete the first one. I started back in Jan 2007 on completing the entire SCLA in 6 months. That was brutal because there was around 30 exams to take and some serious reading. I guess the motivation is that all of...

CPCU - complete 12-18 months?
I have a question for those who recently completed your CPCU. If I put in 25 hours per week min on studying for the CPCU, would it be possible to complete each of the 7 courses every 6 to 8 weeks? I would prefer to do this every four weeks, but I don't know until I complete the first exam. I have al...
