Re: What is your broker of record policy?
As a wholesaler and Lloyd's cover holder, we have a niche market and many agents competing for the same business. We do not accept BOR's. When we did, we spent too much time with 5 day letters back and forth, so now we refuse them. I have not had a problem with our existing agent force, as they und...

Re: Commercial Auto in CA
I'm looking for a commercial auto market in CA with competetive rates. Currently with Infinity and their rates seem pretty high. 40 veh/40 drivers. I appreciate your suggestions. Dear EricCBIAIns, Not sure what class of risk you're talking about, but you might try Pacific Gateway Insurance Agency (...

Re: What is your broker of record policy?
How aggressive do you go after a BOR? Do you prefer to do a BOR than to quote another carrier? How do your clients react to a BOR request, are the hesitant or have you convinced you would serve them better? If someone approaches you to transfer in their policy, is that a red flag? I say this becaus...

Re: Speed boat/Texas
Any one know where I can place a 30' Spectre Cat w/ dual 500hp motors with a max speed of 95mph? I'm in Texas. Thanks in advance. Dear BobbyCounts, To the best of my knowledge, the Progressives and Foremosts of the world are not going to insure a boat with near 100 mph capability or 1,000 total hp....

Re: Do you use online leads services?
Well put d's. This is a common topic in the forum. If I may - I've personally used 4 of the top lead generation companies in the business. Perhaps I'm a pessimist, but I found them to be fairly useless and expensive. There is a better way - I would suggest contacting the folks at www.AgenciesOnline....

Farmers - your opinion
I know someone who is about to take the plunge from being a CSR at an independent agency to becoming a Farmers Agent. Any advice, any thoughts or words of wisdom on the subject? Sundance, Look, I'm a former FIG agent too. I'm not going to bash them because their business model works (for them). As ...

Re: Anyone offering instant auto quotes on their site?
Am looking at this option for our soon to be redesigned web site and was wondering if anyone here offers instant quotes on their web site. I was wondering what vendor/interface you use and how happy you are with it including the quality of the leads. Any help would be appreciated. Okay, this isn't ...

Best Personal lines rates in CA
You already have the best carriers in the business. if price is an issue it is because you are not selling value to the customer with packages to increase retention. The LOWEST price game is for order takers not insurance sales people. I have to agree with rodgwag on this one. You represent some ma...

Re: Geovera VS CEA
It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the Geovera policy has more bells and whistles than CEA, which isn't saying much, but you should definitely ask a rep about it. Go to www.quakebroker.com. They have Geovera and a couple other carriers that write residential EQ for the California market...

Farmers E & O vs. UFAA
There are a few commentors in here that get it. Policy form and coverage FIRST!!! Price should always be a secondary consideration whenever you talk about agent/broker E&O. We're all supposed to be better than that as insurance professionals. Obtain a specimen copy of both policies and compare s...

Alrighty then....I don't know about client stratums and such, but the rest of the thought is a finely polished and well articulated initial approach replete with a website address, company info, and tantilizing teasers designed to draw you over for a look. Re: 101 Sales and Marketing Ideas for Insurance Agents
Interesting observation, michga11. I'm not a boss, used to be, then I was an owner (twice)...now, I'm just a little guy trying to help someone else develop their company, go figure! :? You on the other hand are either young and cocky, or old and cynical. The former will cure itself largely with age ...
