Re: Rental Condo Unit - Property MGT want to be listed as AI
Initially, it was asked of Steve, why the management company wants to be added as an Additional Interest. We never did get an answer, so we are left to assume that there may be a contractual requirement to do so. If it is the Condo Association Bylaws driving the requirement, then chances are the Con...

Re: CA Guaranty Fund
Back in April, Steve Poizner announced that he was unleashing his CDI investigators on the CIGA because of assertions about management and internal control problems at the Association. He stated that the investigation would take about 6 months, so I'm guessing that we should be hearing the results i...

Re: Rental Condo Unit - Property MGT want to be listed as AI
CW Teague is correct if your client has commercial GL coverage for the rental unit: COMMERCIAL GENERAL LIABILITY CG 00 01 12 04 SECTION II – WHO IS AN INSURED 2. Each of the following is also an insured: b. Any person (other than your "employee" or "volunteer worker"), or any org...

Re: Rental Condo Unit - Property MGT want to be listed as AI
My advice to my client would be to ask the management company why they want to be added as an "additional interest". Chances are, my client would be told that this is what they (real estate management co) have been advised to do by their attorney or their insurance broker as a risk transfe...

Re: Getting in the door.
Kevin has given you a great piece of advice! Now, if you were working for a 'large' commercial agency the target accounts would be complex and the buyers a bit more sophisticated, but then you would have an experienced support team backing you and a seasoned pro going out with you on your sales call...

Re: What's going on here?
Does the disclaimer accompanying the policy/binder/insured's copy of the application state "this...policy does not cover property damage caused by roving bands of chickens..." Well, if we write an extensive number of policies in or near a community with a Perdue processing plant and the p...

Re: Zurich Builders Risk
That is why you have an attorney on retainer, yes? If not, you might want to consider discussing this with someone who is competent to deliver legal advice. Many of us in here are not attorneys, though we sometimes come dangerously close to practicing law. Having said that, a simple disclaime...

Re: Getting in the door.
Good start, but too long. Shorten the initial position statement to 25 or fewer words. How about the following: "Hello, Mr. Prospect! My name is Joe Blow. I specialize in the design and implementation of lower cost insurance programs for businesses like yours." or, if you have a specialty ...

Re: Prospecting Letters
The letters may help to get your name out there, but don't stop the cold calling or stopping by businesses. If you are going to market yourself you have to keep at it. You will find that, during the early days of your career, persistence with cold calling and simply dropping by those businesses you ...

Re: Prospecting Letters
Make the letter very short, one or two paragraphs, introducing yourself and your agency, and state that you will be calling to ask for an appointment. Enclose a business card and maybe an agency brochure or product brochure targeted to a specific audience, but only if it is a well crafted piece - do...

Re: AIG Explained
Will someone please explain to me where the billions and billions of dollars are coming from to bail out the investment banks, insurance companies, and, coming soon, the big three auto makers? We borrowed from China for the Fanny Mae/Freddy Mac fiasco, and, now are we simply printing the cash to fun...

Re: Newly Licensed - Please Help!
Wow! Let me see if I understand your position. 1 - You want to break into the industry; 2 - You want to do so with an established, professionally managed agency or company; 3 - It appears that you feel that the minimum educational requirement to gain a sales postion with one of those agencies is som...
