Re: What would you like to see in the Forums?

Josh: This is not truly a forum item...but surely is a need, also tracks well with a recent IJ Univ topic. Someone needs to create/sponsor a mentors forum or program. To match up experienced industry professionals with those who are new or just desiring to enter the industry. Perhaps link it up with...

Re: selling flood insurance

Just saw an article on this subject ... note the comment from an attorney: “They say ‘okay just sign here and you’re insured,’” he told the station, adding that insurance agents have an obligation to inform clients about the National Flood Insurance Program run through FEMA. Failure to do otherwise,...

Re: selling flood insurance

Personally I think that rather than ask if you "should" sell flood coverage...you should be asking yourself "why the heck have I not been protecting myself by offering flood coverage?". If you are providing homeowners/tenants coverage, you should at the very least be making your ...

Scott:

Perhaps the angle could be to contact the local (think it is Roseville CA) Philly office and ask them for recommendation of local agent who understands the non-profit sector?

Re: General Liability for Welder with open claim CA

How about some details on the claim? Awning fell and injured child/adult/employee of client? Fence fell doing similar? Security fence that did not secure premises? Structure collapse? Claim is BI or PD or both? Age of claim? Is claim being worked or is the reserve stale and in need of lowering? And ...

Re: Arizona Photo Radar Tickets

I have had over 25 photo tickets and and paid 2 of them. Just ignore them as most cities can not afford the service cost at this point. Do not respond whatsoever. Good thing mhutch69 does not have his/her real name in their profile...otherwise his/her carrier might hear about this and issue non-ren...

Re: "RD" Renewal disfucuntion

SoCalAgent77: Your post is a bit confusing...either that or I am just not reading it clearly. Are you saying that the carriers you mentioned are paying in monthly installments when the client/insured has paid 100% of the premium at binding/renewal? Or are you saying that when it is new biz the carri...

Re: Agent Selection in the Bid Process - Case Study

Policyman gets the missing link that many others do not....he QUALIFIED the account.

He found out early in the process what it would take to obtain the account and did that without wasting anyones time.

Hopefully the prospect related this to their broker as validation of their relationship.

What is the value of your current book (revenue)?

What are the issues with your current situation?

What contractural issues are there with current situation...meaning is there already a provision in contract for purchase of book or any other issues?

Re: Exempt vs non-exempt employee status

Completely agree with the above posts. to add one other element, implement a system of electronic recording of time. Replace "paper" time cards or time recording. Most providers of payroll services have this option available. An additional benefit is the tracking of PTO (vacation/sick), av...

Darren: Munis can be a bit interesting when it comes to this area. Typically "someone" has created a required items list that is then administered by a person who does not know insurance. That admin person then takes the requirements a bit too far without realizing it. I ran across a perso...

Re: How Often to Bid

Scott: I am in agreement with you on the comm reduction issue. However, we all know that there are many who do this...particularly on new prospects. Wondering what suggestions the crowd has on how to combat this...meaning when they are about to loose an account to a broker/agent who is giving up com...

Re: How Often to Bid

On the subject of pricing reductions. Sometimes the broker/agent can and will give back some of their commission to the carrier in order to get lower pricing. This is not rebating, as they are giving it back to the carrier and not directly to their client. Goes along the lines of some comm is better...
