Re: Understanding Auto Repair coverage

Welcome to the industry! I think what your principal meant to say was "garage liability" vrs "garage keepers legal liab" and he should have added "garage keepers direct primary". Briefly, Garage liability is the "premises" liability for a shop (slip fall etc) ...

Re: Clean Room Equipment Service Provider

I had a feeling that was the situation. Looks like the underwriters are being scared away by the "clean room" aspects. Who is providing coverage on their competition? Perhaps arrange a on-site visit with the most likey underwriter to allay their concerns? Or, provide additional information...

Re: Any tips for starting my own independent insurance agency?

Johnny: Search the topics...LOTS of discussion on this subject the last 2 or 3 years. tho..in back of my head I am saying..."not everyone can work for them selves without having learned the business from all sides". There is a diff between retail sales and claims/underwriting. "Covera...

Re: Help with hiring a CSR

Regarding the comment on "phone type" interview. When I was hiring (about a year ago) I always started with a phone interview. I used this as a screening technique to see how they came across on phone and also to qualify the candidate so that I did not commit to a time consuming face to fa...

Re: Help with hiring a CSR

Have you done a profile on your candidates to see who they really are? I am a huge fan of profiles, some are basic like Omnia and others are more comprehensive. All include ability to talk to the analyst to ask specific questions. Some even include aptitude profiles that go a bit further. The cost i...

Re: Cold Calling

Another thing to do...when you have an appointment with a prospect or client...allow extra time after you finish with them to canvas the neighborhood for additional prospects. This works best if your niche industry targets prospects tend to be clustered. Example: Machine shops, small mfg etc. Walk i...

Re: Cold Calling

I believe using many different prospecting and marketing strategies is important. However, the key to cold calling is the volume of calls. Making only 250 calls per week is not enough. In our agency our contact managers are making about 120 calls per 3 hour session. We have two contact managers eac...

Re: Looking to hire a producer...need help

Another missing question is location. Where are you located? Based upon the replies to the other questions...you are looking at an uphill battle. You will likely be focusing on a greenie who will need lots of training and backup. Are you up to that task? More importantly, can you accomplish this tas...

Re: Modern Proposals

A suggestion...while it is very possible that you will use word or something similar to create your proposal...you should not send out a word version via email. Convert to a pdf if you are going to email it to someone.

this way the document can not be edited, either on purpose or by accident.

Re: House rules for calling dibs on an account. HELP!

Bronco: The only way to have a "hard and fast" rule is to continue using the first in. Perhaps with a qualifier that if it has not been worked (sub to even more definition) after a certain time period then it is free game for anyone. I personally feel that using logic to arrive at whom has...

I nominate this as the "most original submission of the year".

If he was running it as an attraction for short duration...then perhaps some type of an event policy.

Will be interesting to see the comments on this posting...

Re: Commercial building owner with renovation

OCP (Owners Contractors Protective) policy for the GL/Premises and COC/Builders Risk/Installation Floater for the materials.

That is if he is NOT acting as his own general...if he is...then standard GL for general will do the job. So long as the entities are the same.
