Re: Farmers E & O vs. UFAA
I have been with Farmers for 20 years. I also do not like the hard sell. Just because UFAA does not like Farmers does not mean that they are always right (or wrong). Farmers E&O is competitively priced and you can purchase zero deductible for Farmers and brokered business at a fair cost. The mai...

Re: Comp West restaurant
How long has it been since you quoted against them? They have had some pretty substantial rate increases this year and are not as formidable as they were at the beginning of the year.

Re: CA Prop.17 - Portable Persistency
It is a fallacy to believe that Mercury was the only company backing this Proposition. I was told by a few top company people that other carriers were backing the Proposition but could not come out publicly for it because it would look like another industry attempt to change the rules. Carriers were...

Re: Selling life insurance with no experience
I started with New York Life in the 1980's and they gave me a great foundation. To this day, I still use some of the tools they brought up. If you have that opportunity, consider it. NYLIC is known as the company who trains the industry. Also, on another note, you do not have to have your securities...

Re: Umbrella for Nevada LLC
If it is written as a commercial policy, State National will do the umbrella as long as they do the underlying. But you will have to show proof of the LLC owning the properties and they will write the single family residences in their program. That works in California at least.

Re: Energy Savings Insurance (ESI)
If it is the bond you are looking for and you are in California, good luck. Our fabulous politicians put into law that the bidder must guarantee the work on Government solar projects for 20 years. This means the bond has to be in effect for that long. We have one client in that position and the best...

It is so nice to see so many intelligent responses! Although Porter does not seem to have any idea how hard it is to keep growing year after year. If you are at 3400 PIF and have a retention rate of 90%, which is extremely high for this economic market, especially in Arizona or California, that mean...

Re: Farmers Insurance
I agree with the previous post - Farmers' biggest problem is that they are the cash cow for Zurich and that leads to decisions that make them uncompetitive in some situations. HOWEVER, those of you who continue to bash Farmers, I have a few questions: 1) Why were you unable to work within their syst...

OK - If you guys who are complaining that DMs know nothing and you get no training - I have some late breaking news for you: In the independent world, YOU are responsible for your own level of knowledge. Unless you hook up with a great brokerage who takes you by the hand, it is up to YOU to learn an...

Re: Farmers Insurance
I agree with some things that Steve says. I have been with Farmers for almost 20 years (I know -scary thought) and have been through a number of cycles. Sometimes, it sucks and sometimers, it's good - same as it is outside the captive world. However, my vision is somewhat different than most Farmers...

Re: Insurance Broker pays off insured's loan?
If it is in California, rebating is legal as far as I know. However, if the new or old policy is a variable product, then there are serious FINRA issues. I would check that out.

Re: Hired and non-owned auto
Doesn't the owner own a vehicle that can be put into a commercial auto policy. If so, then you can add NO and Hired.
