Re: Company Rating Structures
I think that this is what got Progressive in trouble with the FEDS when they had their Classic , Advantage and Ultra programs with different price levels AND commission levels at the agents discretion. It's the only area that I remember seeing the Feds do anything that even remotely resembled regula...

Re: Guaranteed Replacement Cost for HO3
Does anybody know of a California HO3 carrier that will write the dwelling on a Guaranteed Replacement Cost basis? I'm not in California but in Oregon both MET P&C and Allied will write the true 'Guaranteed Replacement cost coverage MET P&C calls it "COV A Plus" and Allied calls i...

Re: Healthcare Reform
After reading the posts on this I think that I may be the Odd man out here but maybe not because I'm addressing some of the same things but from a slightly different perspective. All of you are equating health insurance with health care. You have fallen into the same mindset that most of the country...

Re: When ACV is the only valuation you can get
It could be on my E&O if the customer relied on my valuation of the property, and recommendation, to set the limits to adequately cover the value of the property. My experience has been that the customer has no idea what the depreciated value even could be in which case they are relying on me fo...

Re: When ACV is the only valuation you can get
Admittedly, I have no direct experience with this but what I tell my clients is that the ACV is calculated at the time of loss, based on each item damaged, i.e. a 10 year old roof, with a life exptecancy of 20 years, would be depreciated by 50% and a ceiling with a life expectancy of 50 years would ...

Re: HO3 for clients witha BK
Ok --- so we know what an HO3 is, but what the hell is a "BK" ??? bankruptcy! I'm airing a pet peeve that I've had for a long time on many of these posts. That is the arrogance of a lot of the posters in assuming that we all know the Jargon that they use. Like njexpat , I had no idea what...

Re: Cold Calling
Sending a self-serving letter does not make for a warm call. Walking in on a suspect is worse than cold calling! Re the principle who only wants you to cold call... His shop, his rules. If you don't like his rules, persuade. If unsuccessful, move on. Employees and employer do not have to agree on e...

Re: Cold Calling
I am at a producer here at a small agency in MA. The agency principal only beleives in cold calling. No marketing whatsoever. ..... The principal is now starting to bear down on lack of appointments. I am trying to make 200-250 calls per week but feel that cold calling isn't that productive. How ma...

If the overbridge collapesed due to construction defect and then caused third party bodily injury or property within the insured's plant , can standard CGL policy cover the loss? more: the overbrige is not built by the insured. Re: Dwelling Fire for rental owned by LLC
I see a problem that the attorney's and the CPA's, usually the CPA's, that advise an insured to set up an LLC often don't see or consider. I agree with tburmingham that the named insured should be the LLC. That is the legal entity that owns the property. This is a personal lines risk regardless of t...

Re: Personal lines question: HO3 v. DP3
One other issue that hasn't been addressed here, in addition to the liability issues, is coverage on the insureds personal property. There is a 10% limitation to the personal property located at an "additional residence occupied by the insured". The exclusion mentioned by mccluney could va...

Re: Producer Support
One point that I think is critical is that they should opperate together , as a TEAM . If the producers takes some servicing information like address changes they should forward that on immediately to the CSR/Account Manager for processing. Any more, much greater time spent is in processing the tran...

Re: Agency Management System
I cast my vote for TAM because that is the system that I'm on and have been on for 16+ years. It's also the ONLY system I've been on unless you count S.T.A.R.S. ( the Farmers Insurance Group Sales Tracing & Redords System when I was Captive ( encumbered ) in 1989 and which I kept using for nearl...
