GA "Forgets" to Pay Commissions
Dear BrooklynNY, First of all, I'm not in your industry (yet). I'm on the collections side. I've got experience in this playing field, collecting against GA's and brokers for various breaches. Let me tell you this - GET AWAY FROM THESE GUYS - FAST! Bad news, you probably have less than a 1 in 20 cha...

Coping with the mold menace!
Good article, Rob. Very interesting from a number of points of view. However, I see phrases like; "elusive," "...this risk is not for the faint of heart," and "It is unlikely that mold coverage will ever be that simple" just reminds me of one simple and undeniable fact....

Sanddog and Rob, Thanks for your feedback. I enjoy the different perspectives and knowledge. You're right, I don't know as much as I should about Homeowner's and I found that out back in 2003 when AAA ran me through the horn hard. What I do find to be consistent with just about any carrier these day...

What Homeowner's Insurance Doesn't Cover-Are you prepared?
8) Just received a questionnaire on our package (Homeowner's/Auto) policy from our broker. Now, keep in mind that our broker is one of the best in this area, and our policy is not a bargain basement - cheapo - policy. Matter of fact, according to the Declaration, it's says "Deluxe." So, I ...

Dear Akos: Curious as to what specifically you're looking for. Premium finance is a very specialized field, and your post did not mention specifics about geographic area, needs, etc. I have 15 years in this field on the collection side and am related to someone who's in the business (almost 20 years...

Dear Mr. Williscroft: Mr. Testone hits the nail on the head; ultimately we (the insureds) are responsible for our financial future, and the risk assessment decisions made with insurance policies. He makes a very good point, and it's the one that I attempted, perhaps unsuccessfully, to make in my for...

Dear Lisa: My pleasure to answer your questions. The nature of this claim really had 3 separate components; physical structure damage, resulting in the sudden and accidental overflow of a drain line, mold abatement (minor), and additional living expense. The cause was an A/C condensation line that u...
