Re: Market Organizing Software

I came from a larger agency that simply used Outlook Contacts. It has a large field for notes and is searchable. Also any marketing emails or so called spam received from wholesalers I save in an Outlook marketing folder which is also searchable. You may not be able to tier by company preference, bu...

Re: Broker fees

As long as the fee is measurable with the work being done it should be good. If you are say charging a $10,000 fee in this case you should be able to demonstrate your work was worth $10,000. Of course it can be a subjective call.

Re: Advice needed from seasoned producers

First you get the money then you get the power. Couldn't help the Scarface quote, but it is revelant. If you want to be a salesman, go with the large broker, and in your case one that has expertise in construction accounts. There you will get the marketing support and resources you need. That is the...

Re: Removing a Named Insured

If a partnership, both individuals can be interpreted as first named insured since the two individuals comprise the partnership (assuming the type of insured is indicated as partnership). Also splitting hairs if both names are listed on the same line they both can be first named insureds. Of course ...

Re: The Age Old Question-How much to split

Sorry to say but $55K gross commission is way too low for 8 years on the job. I know there are differnces in pay geographically but if I read this right there is only $16,500 going to the house. I would suggest a goal setting session to bring the gross up benefiting both parties, and would not recom...

Re: Astonish Results or Squid

Pathway - I don't think most end users will be able to tell if a site is hand coded or a template, unless it is a very common template. I'm just looking at this from a fresh vantage point and giving you my honest opinion. I have been an agent 24 years my website sucks and it is a template, so I woul...

Re: Astonish Results or Squid

This is a website that we launched within the last few months for an agency in Kansas: http://heritageinsurancegroup.net/ We have the agency ranked on page one of Google for more than 20 keywords. Pricing is significantly lower in price compared to other companies offering systems. If this is an ex...

Maybe the other driver had Progressive as well? Did not see anything mentioned as to the other carrier, except that he was underinsured.

Re: Just another day in the retail insurance biz

I'm not so sure this guy was looking to cheat the system necessarily. 30 hours a month is really on the low side of part time. If he does not have signage on the truck, in his personal name, and is not registered commercial, and does not transport persons or property for a fee, what really is the is...

Re: looking for feedback/advice please....

My suggestion is to work with an independent agent as a producer. The KEY is to negotiate a good commission split and that YOU OWN YOUR BOOK OF BUSINESS. I have 2 partners and let me tell you there is a lot more to running an agency then sales. You mention E&O coverage, how about GL, taxes, mark...

Re: CPA looking for career advice.

My career goals include working as a comptroller/CFO for a smaller, more regional carrier someday.
I would recommend CPCU if you are looking to stay within this industry, and given the goal of working at a smaller insurance company. Otherwise, I would recommend pursuing a Masters

What kind of ADA Violation? If there is no BI or PD then no defense under CGL. If the claimant is an employee then yes for EPL. Need more info.

Misleading Advertising

Has anyone experienced emails or website ads for $9 car insurance? I also received spam stating the government would pay for half of my car insurance. I know if this was a print ad or such that actually easily identifies the advertiser the insurance department would be all over them. However these a...
