Re: New Venture - Non-Emergency transporation

Your quote range is what I would expect for this risk, for the Commercial Auto premium. Is your prospect balking at the premium ranges?

Re: 1 or 2 Dwellings? - CA

I can't speak for every carrier, but it seems like your carrier wants off of it. Have you tried your other standard markets?

Re: New Venture - Non-Emergency transporation

Almost any Commercial Auto carrier will entertain this risk for the auto piece. For the CGL, you're probably looking surplus lines.

Re: ADA Violations

Blondie2 -- while you are correct that your client doesn't have employees, he does have tenants. I know you can buy a policy that covers Tenant Discrimination -- call your broker and see if that policy would Defend your client against an ADA claim. I have been told, but do not know this first hand, ...

Re: One stop shop MGA

Wow, JAM, you have certainly not had good experiences with your MGA, and I am sorry about that. As a wholesale broker with 20 years in the E & S side of the business, I can tell you, there is no MGA or Wholesale shop that does everything. You just can't--well, you can look at everything, but you...

Coverage for what? The contractor installing the EIFS, or to cover faulty EIFS already installed?

Re: Meals on wheels - insured with Farmers currently

Why does the insured want to move their account? I can't believe no one else wonders this first....before doing anything else. Is this a real opportunity? Or is the insured having claims or payment issues, and wants to move? Call me cynical, but when an insured actually knows the name of their insur...

There are any number of Preferred carriers (Allied, CNAInsurance) who write commercial contractors. Have you checked with your Direct writiers?

Re: Questions about starting an MGA

Your post states "starting an MGA" and then you go on to say a "GA". Those are 2 different types of organizations in the E&S world. To be an MGA, the carrier gives you the binding authority on their behalf. If you are not already doing this kind of business, I would say it wo...

Re: Personal Quake Insurance - CA

Firemans Fund will write quake on high value dwellings, so will Chartis/Lexington. Depending on where your risk is located, and the deductible that FIremans Fund is offering, it's very possible the premium is what they are telling you. Markets on the E & S side of the world who consider single f...

Re: Personal Quake Insurance - CA

Think you pretty much have the available markets covered. From what I have seen of the carriers you mention, the pricing is pretty much the same across the board. Good luck!

Re: Are Insurance Agents Employees or Independent Contractor

If they are independent contractors, each sales agent would also need to provide the agency with an E & O policy. If they are independent, they are not covered by the agency's policy, right? Also, I would be a bit suspicious of a CPA who just happens upon you with the settlement information....i...

Re: Facebook

I like Facebook for personal uses, but am not a big fan of my clients being on my page....unless they find me. That's my personal life, and my random musings about the kids and the husband and the dog are for my friends. Plus, I grew super-tired of the commercial sites I 'liked' posting 3 or 4 updat...

Re: AZ Home "Flipper" Insurance Coverage Needed

I would be careful about putting this type of risk on Vacant home policies....if the client has a loss, the carrier is not going to be happy about the exposure. It's a misrepresention, really, and as a wholesaler, I see alot of these come to our side of the market once someone like Foremost accident...
