Re: New GA getting appointments
My suggeston would be decide what you want to write -- Earthquake, Contractors, Bars, whatever...find out 3 or 4 good carriers in that line, and talk to them about what you would have to do to be appointed. BUt I will tell you, they will ask for premium commitments, and typically a carrier would ask...

Re: New GA getting appointments
As a wholesaler, what carriers look for in appointing a new Broker is -- can you give them business they are not getting now? When you say GA, I don't know if you actually mean a Brokerage firm, or if you intend to ask for Binding authority. Binding authority is much harder to get, you have to have ...

Re: Medical Diagnostic Equipment Mfg. - CA
It's less than a $2 rate for the GL, maybe a $0.15 rate on the property? Maybe try your preferred carriers (Allied, CNA, etc). I think they are getting a pretty good deal now, though.

Re: HOA Products completed ops
How can you get the coverage included in the Umbrella if it is not on the primary policy?
ALso, is the Products/Completed Ops coverage actually Excluded, or merely 'Included' in the Gen Agg?

Re: New Venture - Non-Emergency transporation
Marmar - the risk will have to split, Auto and GL. Have you received any quotes yet? I have to say, I see new business submissions on this class all the time....this class, Limo services and Non Armed Security guards. IMHO, all three classes are a huge time waster, and have really high failure rates...

Re: What licenses are needed to insure commercial lines
Have to agree with Big Dog's comments, you might want to do some homework first on the industry. If you are really interested in insurance, contact one of the larger brokerage houses in your area, and try to get in there. ONce you get familiar with coverages and how it all works, you'll be in a bett...

Re: CPA looking for career advice.
I would wonder why you can't do both? Pesonally, I would do the Masters first, you just got your CPA so you are relatively new to the field(I am guessing that part), I would solidify my base of knowledge there first. Then once you finish your Masters, do the CPCU classes. In the meantime, continue e...

Re: Lessor Risk liability vs tenant liability
Also, keep in mind that in the event the Tenant does not have any coverage, even though the Landlord does, the Landlord policy is for the Premises only. It is not going to pick up, not is it likely to defend, a claim arising from the tenant's Business Operation. It is a subjectivity in most nearly a...

Re: ADA Violations
Who would go out of business over an ADA claim? I think that's a little far-fetched. And I don't believe any one offers ADA coverage in particular, it's part of the 3rd Party coverage on the EPLI policy, IF you buy the 3rd Party coverage. What I think is more likely is a client doesn't buy the 3rd p...
