Re: Insuring multiple LLC's on the Same policy

You won't necessarily find it in writing, but you will find it in the declinations you get from the insurance carriers when you try to place this risk with them. I have several policies that have multiple LLC's, BUT one entity is the majority owner of each LLC, so the interests are combinable, for t...

Re: Retail to Wholesale???

I would be hesitant, but only for this reason -- what is marketing/sales for a wholesaler? Are you going to be responsible for your own book of business, and be a revenue source? That's the good way....but if you are going to be in sales, but really just calling on current and prospective customer w...

Re: Filling out ACORD forms.. like a pro

Old Indy Agent, no, it's not unusual to have a preferred market behave exactly as you describe. What the string about is more referencing is filling out Acord applications to submit to non-computerized markets. This would encompass almost the entire E&S marketplace, as well as some of the larger...

Zurich has a program that is very aggressive...through an MGU in Texas called IRS or IRI...let me look some more and post that, too.

Re: CA-Guaranteed Replacement Cost

There is a post above talking about loss during a Catastrophic fire event....we have wildfires in California on an almost annual basis, and they are never large enough to affect the supply & demand to the point where costs increase. Now, in the event of a true catastrophe, like an Earthquake or ...

Re: Risk Purchasing Groups

as i understand an RPG, its an association of folks all banded together to buy insurance, and the claims are paid from the premiums generated by the group, but if the group runs out of money to pay their claims, I believe the insureds are out of luck, and would have no coverage.

Re: Live Music venue in CA with open A&B claim

If I am reading this correctly, the risk has had 2 A/B claims; one is closed, one is still open? That could make A/B very difficult to secure. Who is the expiring carrier? Do they have A/B now? I am guessing from the markets your wholesaler approached that this risk must have enough receipts to just...

Re: "Houseominiums" in CA

When I had my condo, I had a quake policy on it, and I believe it was through Geo Vera. This was in 2008, though, the last renewal, so maybe things have changed. I write alot of HOA's specifically for the peril of Quake, and none of my agents seem to have any trouble offering individual policies for...

Re: Handyman, Gen Liability

Colony is very aggressive on this class in California. However, your risk does not sound like a handyman, with $300,000 in payroll. In California, a handyman is limited to jobs under $500, and is not required to be licensed to do that sort of work. You may have more luck marketing this risk as a tru...

Re: single security guard worker's comp

The guard would then also have to buy his own General Liability insurance, since that is currently provided through the guard's firm. He might want to look into that cost, because it's not going to be cheap.

No, it would not be a Self Insured Retention. It would be lack of Underlying or Controlling Primary Insurance, which is not the same thing.

Re: GA's binding responsibility

As a wholesaler, if I have an account that is still not bound 9 days after the client requests it bound, then typically we are waiting for some piece of information like loss runs, or signed supplemental, something...but we also let the client know what the reason is for the delay. It sounds to me i...
