If you're an insurance agency owner and even thought about selling your book or agency, be careful about how you go about it.
I see a lot of owners casually post in Facebook groups saying they want to sell, or they ask if anyone knows a buyer. That may seem like the easy route, but in many cases it is a huge waste of time. You often end up attracting unqualified people, tire-kickers, and others who have no real ability to close. Even worse, putting it out there too openly can create confidentiality issues.
Once word starts getting around, you risk your employees finding out, your carriers hearing about it, or your clients getting uncomfortable. That can hurt the value of your agency and create problems before a sale ever happens.
A better approach is to work through a confidential process with someone who understands the insurance agency space and can help position your agency properly.
With that said, I used https://agencyadvisorpro.com/services/ and was very happy. The platform did all the work for me and I got more than I thought I would for the agency. Stay away from direct agency acquirers.
