BOP vs. Commercial Package Policy

Post by Miguelito »

Wholesale underwriting suggests to place an artisan plumber that works on medical facilities with BOP coverage.

Trying to determine if the CPP Products and Completed Ops is superior........and also comes with twice the premium.

Thoughts?

There's no shortcut. Since BOP policy forms can be all over the place, you're going to have to read the specific form and compare coverages - and exclusions.

The other thing to consider is what extra endorsements might be required contractually. You'll have more flexibility from a commercial package policy in adding required endorsements, than you will from a BOP. You might want to ask them for a sample contract or three, to see what is typically being required.

Who is suggesting you do this on a BOP? That’s crazy.

There are quite a few standard carriers writing artisan contractor on BOP now. Some may have limited property coverage that cannot be increased, but GL side is pretty standard ISO forms. But I'm surprised MetLife would write someone works on Medical facilities.
