General Liability for Welder with open claim CA
Hello everyone. We currently have a customer that has an open claim with a payout at 21,000 and 11,000 on reserve. I am having much trouble writing this fellow. I wanted to see if someone could point me into the right direction, maybe a risk retention group that will take him or a non admitted carrier. He does not mind the rating although I hold back with writing anything lower than an A-, admitted or not. Thank you in advance for your guidance.

This sounds like a surplus lines placement. Have you submitted to an E&S Broker for review. There are several non-admitted markets out there that would consider this.
Good Luck.
If you don't have a E&S Broker that you work with let me know as I'll try to help you.

How about some details on the claim? Awning fell and injured child/adult/employee of client? Fence fell doing similar?
Security fence that did not secure premises? Structure collapse? Claim is BI or PD or both? Age of claim? Is claim being worked or is the reserve stale and in need of lowering?
And operation? Welder of what?? Decorative fencing? Security fencing? Structural?
Hard to give serious suggestions without decent information.

Please let me look at this. I have authority to quote this class with claims.
