I have a laundromat owner that wants to hire his own security guard, he currently has a security guard hired through a security guard firm but wants to hire him on his own. Is that possible, will anyone offer worker's comp on a single security guard?

The guard would then also have to buy his own General Liability insurance, since that is currently provided through the guard's firm. He might want to look into that cost, because it's not going to be cheap.

Is there a reason he can't be paid on a W2 and be an employee of the laundromat? He would be automatically covered under existing comp. If you do that he doesn't need separate GL - and it's very likely that the current workers comp carrier would never ask about the security exposure.
