How does a PAP (Personal Auto) policy respond if a client use Uber or Lyft to pick up others when there is an accident. Under exclusions: Any insured's liability arising out of the ownership or operation of a vehicle while it is being used as a public or livery conveyance. Please help.

If the exclusion is on the policy, then the policy will not respond.

It is possible that there is a tailored insurance product that Uber or Lyfft has that provides coverage. If your customer is utilizing these services, ask them to provide you with a copy of the contract, including any insurance provisions. You might find your answers there. If Uber or Lyfft are able to provide liability coverage that extends protection to the owner of the vehicle (like some sort of enhanced non-owned auto liability, since this coverage typically only provides protection to the corporation and not the employee), that would be great for your customer. Then you need to find out if the personal auto policy's physical damage coverage also has the livery exclusion.

I have sent emails and facebooks messages to Uber and Lyft and they don't respond because THEY HAVE NOTHING!

Lyft's website says: $1,000,000 excess liability insurance The Lyft platform provides drivers with excess liability insurance up to $1,000,000 per occurrence. This first-of-its-kind solution offers peace of mind for both drivers and passengers.

It's all BS. When someone total's a couple cars or kills someone, they are going to lose their home because they won't have any insurance.

Excess Insurance? Excess of what, no coverage under PAP?
