Job Offer with Bankers Life
I'm new to the insurance industry and I am wondering if working for Bankers Life, which is commision base is a good place to start off at? I have my Life and Health
new agent
Welcome aboard! If BL&C has a great local manager and office setting for you to work with, they should be a fine company to represent. If they are going to only give a few weeks of training, hand you a rate disk an a pat on the back... watch out! Nobody survives 6 months like that, doesn't matter which company.
People don't buy our products like they do a car or food. They have to be sold, and an excellent manager / mentor relationship will help you succeed.
Consider only companies that have solid agencies in your area. Learn form the others.
I can't say it enough... Join NAIFA, and if you'll be doing Health sales too, as all banker's life & casualty reps do... Join AHIA, the health "side" of NAIFA.
Sign up for the LUTC / FSS classes offered nearby. The American College does an excellent job of partnering with the local NAIFA chapter to bring you a tremendous training program. Second to none!
Finally, no matter which company you choose, remember what industry legend Ben Feldman taught all of us "veterans"... SEE THE PEOPLE!
