BEst thing to do is ASK for the sale.......
If you give personal lines quotes on the phone, we increased our close ratio by asking FIVE words:
Have you got a pencil??
You would be surprised when you ask this question, the person on the other end of the call will say something like:
"Uhhhhhh, wait a minute - let me get something to write with...." - you would THINK that if you were calling around for
prices, you would at LEAST have something to write down the answers!
Another thing we do is to give business cards to customers and ask for referrals. We have the customer write his/her
name on the back of the card. The referral has to COME TO OUR OFFICE to obtain a quote. When they come in, we have
them place the card in a box and then quarterly, we give away a color television set. Take a picture of us giving the
remote control to the winner and start all over again. It is NOT rebating as it is NOT CONTINGENT on the referral BUYING
a policy from us - only them coming in for a quote.
In our area, cable television is available CHEAP! It is actually less expensive than radio or print ads. You run on the cable channels versus networks and tailor the ads to the demographic you want. I dropped my yellowpage ad and spend less, get more from the cable ads!

How about putting together a highly informative guide to choosing your insurance provider?
5 Things to look for... 5 Questions to ask.... 5 Things to avoid...
Educate your prospects to look for points above and beyond price.
Give them something of value that they can use to make an informed decision.
Set the bar high and then make sure you can get over it.
Just my two cents.

Now you're talking! That's good stuff right there. Educate the customer (as much as they wish to be) and at least give them the benefit of having enough information at their disposal to truly make a good purchase decision. I like it!
