About downloading PDF policies

Post by pageltd »

Most of carriers produce a pdf copy of a policy, which is accessible via their website.

The question is, how many agencies are 'downloading' the pdf and entering it into their management system?
My opinion:
Time consuming? Yes
Enhances customer service? Definitely!
Should there be a way to download automatically, like IVANS download? Yes.
Is there a legitimate reason not to do this? Yes, time.
Is there a legitimate reason to do this? That's what I want to know.
Even if companies say they store policy docs forever, doesn't mean they're going to be there forever.

So...is your agency downloading pdf's?

We download and enter it into our file management system - which is separate from our CRM. Although the CRM has upload capability too.

I'm not sure it is necessary - CRMs also can automatically download the policy, changes, rates, etc. It does most of the heavy lifting for you.

Are you saying that Doris can download policy transactions automatically, without any human intervention, on a schedule?

The human interaction consists of about 1 minute to download and import. I'm not sure a truly automated system exists.

Let's define some terms:

What is the distinction between your CRM and file management system?
Are you calling Doris your CRM or is Doris your file management system?

When you talk about downloading and importing, are you referring to downloading the the actual pdf from the carrier website, and filing in your system?
Or are you referring to the download as what software companies refer to as the 'download image' or data file?
