I have a question. I have a freind that wants to allow his mother to borrow his car.

If something happens will his collission and comprehension cover his car, will his liabiity cover the car?

Does his mother know how to drive? Does she have a drivers license?

He needs to read his insurance policy, as not all policies allow Permissive Users.

Also look for "resident relatives" in the definitions of permitted drivers. If Mom lives on her own apart from him in a separate residence, that alone would disqualify her.

Exactly.

The bottom line is, someone needs to read the insurance policy, and call the agent/company and ask.

Yes his mother can drive and does have her own insurance. His mother's car will be in the shop.

His insurance is with AIG.

I looked at my own policy and it seems the key is that he must give her permission but I am not with AIG.

If your friend has a question about his insurance, he should call his agent.

If he doesn't feel comfortable asking his agent or insurer a question like this he needs to change agents.
