Switching from Captive Agency to Independent...

I am currently a captive agent and have been for about 5 years. It has been good but lately it seems like the company is micro managing alot more, rates keep going up and I am losing clients becasue we cannot sell other products. I am growing a little frustrated losing money. I was wondering what are the difficulties I could face if I switch from captive to independent. I want to be able to offer my clients more than just one option.
