Odd question here: Are broker fees more common in some states than others? We were just referred a business whose owners live in the northwest, but have property in Alaska. The policy was with a standard carrier, and around 3k in premium - not huge. The insured said they got a notice about a broker fee in the mail. Is the current agent trying to chase them off? Are broker fees common in Alaska(where current agent is)?
This was a very run of the mill policy, so there was no apparent reason to add the fee.

He is either trying to run them off or squeeze more money from them. Look at how excessive the Broker Fees are and that should tell you.
