Life License Question

Our agency recently lost our only agent that had a Life/AH license. A group policy we write needs an agent with a life license to sign the applications, etc. Can I ask an agent with a life license to service this policy for our agency if he/she isn't an employee of our agency? Say acting as a consultant?
