My business partner, an actuary, and myself developed actuarial tables and data for pet health insurance. We've spent over 2 years working on the business plan but the carriers we've spoken to want a $10m book virtually overnight, which is damn near impossible, we wanted to take our time and get it right.
There are a lot of unique things about pet ins that make this a great prospect, the market is potentially huge but the products currently out there suck. We've approached a lot of carriers but we're hearing the same thing over and over.
Pets are property and most, if not all, states consider pet ins to be personal inland marine.
We think we've got some very unique aspects to bring to this program but we were wondering if anyone knows of any carriers that have open minds and would be willing to listen to our story?
any and all help much appreciated.
