We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter Assistant with commercial lines, property, general liability, auto, inland marine, crime and umbrella rating experience. Workers Compensation experience is also a plus. The minimum requirement is 5 years of commercial lines rating experience. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about helping the company expand into other lines as well as someone who wants to continue to expand their role as the company develops its other lines book of business.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the end-to-end handling of new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations for assigned underwriter/underwriters.
  • Accurately enter all risk and exposure information into rating system Review collected information for completeness and accuracy and request additional information from the agency when necessary
  • Perform underwriting reviews on renewals by reviewing operations and exposures, analyzing loss experience, reviewing loss control, and determining risk appetite acceptance and accurate pricing
  • Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel
  • Review and accurately process endorsements, including premium and non-premium bearing endorsements in accordance with delegated authority
  • Participate in pre-renewal meetings with underwriters to determine account service needs
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for servicing needs on active accounts
  • Maintains the highest level of customer service internally and externally
  • May prepare and distribute proposals and binders
  • May be assigned projects/assignments as required

Qualifications


  • Multi-line rating and classification experience required; i.e. property, auto, general liability
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines rating experience
  • 3 years or more of prior P & C insurance industry experience a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience with workers compensation insurance; i.e. classification and experience rating
  • Must be able to partner effectively with their assigned underwriter/underwriters
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize heavy workloads
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Good computer skills. Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Intermediate level verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S. or B.A.) in business administration or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university, or full time work experience as an underwriter assistant, on a year for year basis will substitute for a degree.Completion of insurance related courses is a plus
