We are seeking a Personal Lines Underwriter. This position involves the review and appraisal of applications for Agents and Carriers. The Underwriter position works under the supervision of a senior underwriter within the department while training. The Underwriter responds to questions from Agents and Carriers received via telephone, email or fax.

AS A SUPERIOR ACCESS UNDERWRITER YOU WILL:
  • Review applications for insurance coverage against carrier guidelines to determine eligibility.
  • Handle a high call volume for expedited quote and bind requests.
  • May rate policies or check previously rated policies for proper rating.
  • Utilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new or renewal policies.
  • Assist agents with comments or questions about applications and the likelihood of acceptance by the company.
  • May review policies for renewal consideration.
  • Enter and/or search information into computer systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to continue education to succeed within Superior Access Insurance Services.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast paced environment with guidance from management.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Commercial experience is a plus.
  • 1-2 years' experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
  • The salary range for this position is $38,000 - $43,000/year based on experience and licenses
  • 15% shift differential will be added for core hours ending 7:00 pm and later
