The 2VP, Learning & Development is a highly visible role, directly manages a staff and oversees programs of a large size and complexity focused on Technology learning, and may support initiatives with an enterprise wide impact.
In strong alignment with Traveler’s enterprise learning strategy, this role will be responsible for leading the development, execution, and refinement of the technology learning strategy for the discipline across the function and lines of business. Results of the learning strategy will have direct impact on business results. You will ensure learning is easily accessible, relevant to the learner’s and business’ needs, fun, personalized, and available in a multitude of mediums. You will immediately become part of Travelers’ learning community of experts, partnering and collaborating across the enterprise – and receiving functional support.
In addition to owning Technology learning best practices and ensures coordination and consistency across lines of business, this role provides overall leadership and direction to a learning team including coaching, mentoring and development.
This role manages others and may be a manager of managers.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Develops strategies and best practices used to assess technology learning needs by collaboratively working with client(s) at all levels of the organization to conduct needs analysis and support short and long-term business objectives through application of appropriate adult learning strategies, design, delivery, strategy, execution to support business needs.
As needed, designs, develops, and delivers comprehensive learning strategies, programs, and curricula, using the appropriate methodology, to meet training initiatives and enhance productivity for the business.
Develops and designs short and long-term planning strategies and initiatives.
Determines the best instructional methods for each program or session.
Develops short and long term strategies to ensure initiatives are effective and in alignment with the Technology business strategy.
Evaluates programs for effectiveness and relevancy and develop a roadmap for iteration and/or creation of future programs.
Continuously improves training experiences by measuring the impact and seeking customer feedback to determine areas for improvement.
Creates and manages budget, ensuring cost effective methods are utilized and business training needs are met.
Identifies and deploys appropriate resources to meet client needs. As needed, negotiates for additional resources.
Identifies, evaluates and negotiates vendor alternatives. Manages vendor quality and drives strategy for vendor management.
Works with team and business leadership to identify areas where training solutions can be leveraged across businesses.
Responsible for providing consistent performance feedback and coaching to staff. Develops team goals and drives strategies to meet business objectives.
- Minimum of seven years of work experience in learning and development related experience.
Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
Master’s degree in related discipline: Instructional Design, Organizational Psychology, Adult Education, etc. preferred.
8+ years of professional experience preferred.
4 years of management experience preferred.
Professional training credentials preferred.
Experience working within a Technology-related discipline preferred.
