Job Description

*This role can sit in Irving, TX or Charlotte, NC or remote (candidate needs to have exp with NoSQL and AWS cloud providers)

The successful candidate will operate within the global management model with responsibility to:

  • Collaborate in the evaluation, selection and platform design of emerging database technologies with concentration in the NoSQL and cloud spaces.
  • Liaise, educate and advise business areas on platform selection, data design, enterprise strategy and data enablement.
  • Lead internal project efforts to determine technical scope and execution plan in partnership with sister organizations like security, architecture and infrastructure.
  • Lead incident, security and performance analysis.
  • Streamline redundant operations and automate recurring tasks through scripting and use of modern technologies.
  • Support initiatives in Agile frameworks across multiple business units.
  • Analyze database workloads, identify problem spots and design solutions to address these problems using monitoring and alerting tools for cloud based and on-premise deployments.
  • Educate and mentor other database administrators.


The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to present technology topics to business and leadership audiences with a proven track record in driving innovation, advocacy for process improvement and communication of technical strategic decisions.

Job Qualifications

Essential Criteria:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, engineering, technology related field or equivalent experience
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience as a data professional
  • 2+ years of NoSQL / new databases experience (Strongly desired) 

  • 3+ years in database management, testing, scripting and / or configuration
  • Knowledge across multiple data store platforms 
  • Familiarity with Cloud providers (particularly AWS) and open source automation software.
  • Some programming experience (Shell, Python, Java, etc.)
  • Experience working on cross functional teams


The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate a high degree of competence in

Preferred Criteria:



  • Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies

  • Experience with one or more of the following NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis or Snowflake (strongly desired)

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Python, Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Experience with a programming framework like Unix Shell, Power Shell, Python, Java, NodeJS, etc.
  • Experience or certification with AWS solutions involving database platforms.
  • Experience with Agile, Pivotal Cloud Foundry and continuous delivery environments
  • Experience with 20+ TB databases
  • Experience with security standards and procedures like encryption, redaction and tokenization
  • Experience with the P&C insurance industry. 
  • Experience with Project Management concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience documenting research analysis and results.
