Job Summary

The Ratemaking Innovation team’s approach to product delivery is fast yet sustainable, and our commitment to working in a balanced team creates an inspiring and innovative environment. We are looking for a talented and passionate Product Designer to join our team. You will be responsible for applying user centered design methods to frame and deliver the experience of the products we build to be useful, usable and enjoyable. Working in an Agile XP environment, you will collaborate with fellow designers, product managers, software engineers, end users and stakeholders to define, design, ship and iterate on innovative platform solutions which will transform the way Allstate delivers products to its customers.



Key Responsibilities

About You

You must have an interest and desire to work on a data intensive, business user and actuarial user facing systems; this is not your everyday insurance consumer facing application. In this role the Product Designer will apply a deep knowledge of data, analytics, information architecture and user research/design while working in a highly collaborative, team-based environment. You must possess:
-Ability to design and envision experiences iteratively in a lean XP based environment.
-Maintain a user centered approach in design perspective and practice.
-Guide product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops.
-Ability and desire to manage senior project stakeholders (internal & client) to help shape, define and manage ongoing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
-Familiarity with UX trends, methodologies and expert skill with UX tools.
-Experience in developing rapid prototypes.
-Have a can - do attitude toward unpacking problems and finding root - causes of complex issues
-Ability to use diplomacy and negotiation skills to achieve alignment on decisions
-Have an entrepreneurial spirit and aren’t afraid to stand up for what they believe is the right product based on user feedback.
-Open to feedback and engages in active listening.
-Have an interest in innovation and an unquenchable thirst to continually learn new technologies and design skills/methods within the employee - facing digital space.

About the Role

Work in pairs with other product designers and/or other project team members that have complementary skills. Immerse in the details of a project, working on one engagement at a time.
-Manage the end to end user experience process on engagements.
-Conduct appropriate user research and analysis methods to answer the research questions at hand.
-Leverage an existing pattern library and visual design system to create high quality UX deliverables which deliver on product outcomes.
-Create rapid iterations of design prototypes that can be frequently tested and validated with users
-Produce design documentation such as user flows, wireframes, comps, live style guides, and design assets as needed.
-Contribute to and promote on - going enhancement of the Allstate UX design methodologies.

Job Qualifications

-Bachelors in HCI, Interaction Design, or the like preferred.
-3+ years experience in Product Design, User Research, or similar field (including years in graduate school)
-Demonstrated aptitude for understanding applied actuarial and mathematical concepts
-Meticulous attention to detail in execution of a large project
-Strong written, visual, and oral communication skills
-Strong analytical and strategic skills
-Team player but able to work independently with minimum direction
-Proficiency with Axure, InVision or another rapid - prototyping tool
-Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Compensation Data

The minimum salary for this position is $64,700. The salary offered will be commensurate with experience.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
