Job Summary

The State Manager Associate Manager supports the team in achieving profit and growth targets for assigned state(s)/region or line(s) of business. Designs, develops, manages and leads strategies, initiatives, and people using product, pricing, and risk management knowledge to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilties
  • Leads the analysis of data to assess early detection of trends, developing actionable insights and informing recommendations on rates and risk management guidelines. This includes developing new insights and understanding of business performance based on exploratory analytics
  • Proactively leads the identification, research, and analysis of developing trends and providing recommendations on managing profitable growth
  • Utilizes data to uncover potential market issues/opportunities
  • Lead the formulation of strategies/business cases using data and analytics to achieve business objectives
  • Manages competitive landscape analysis to inform rate, risk management guidelines and product recommendations
  • Solves medium/high complexity problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Leads the collaboration and integration within product and with other key stakeholders to develop analysis, make recommendations, and drive understanding/engagement to support Market Operating Committee (MOC)/Line strategies
  • Supports the development of local Underwriting and/or Line Management strategies and plans
  • Proactively leads the identification, development, execution and post implementation evaluation of strategies to address challenges and maximize opportunities of medium/high complexity; provides recommendations for adjustments as warranted
  • Provides coaching and development to direct reports to ensure state specific results, impacts and strategies are considered
  • Ensures product and risk management policies are compliant with state specific regulations; provides regulatory/market conduct exam support as needed
  • Consults with resources/expertise that are necessary to successfully execute initiatives; partners with regional operations team on product expertise/recommended communications and serves as “train-the-trainer” for product deliverables.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • None

Functional Skills

  • Requires a solid understanding of the organization's business operations and industry
  • Possesses strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced experience in evaluation and summarization of data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate specialized terms and data
  • Experience working in Excel, Tableau, and other analytical software
  • Knowledge of product, price, risk management and insurance regulation, with working knowledge of lines, rate plans and product offerings
  • Good collaboration and relationship skills
  • Ability to plan, implement, and measure projects of high complexity and/or large-scale key initiatives using accepted project management standards
Compensation Data

Compensation for this position will start at $75,900/year. Actual salary offered will depend on selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
