Job Family Summary
The Technical Lead works as part of an Agile Programming team who own the inception, development and full lifecycle of digital products. The team practices methodologies and adheres to principles put forth by the lean startup and lean enterprise movements. The team puts the system user at the center of everything they do; ensuring that users receive the most value out of the products being developed.
The Application Developers work in a highly structured Agile environment. They design their own systems to deliver their products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They own their application, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving the Key Performance Indicators.
This Technical Lead will serve as a member of a product team. They practice and are the champions of the Agile methodology and a product mindset within each product team.
The Technical Lead designs and implements applications following principles to build out the product and iterative enhancements. He/she leverages agile development and continuous integration to ensure the simplest appropriate technology and design is chosen to meet user needs. He/she coaches other team members, creating an environment of continuous learning, and constantly challenging and stretching the knowledge of the team.
The Technical Lead for Allstate Insurance Company in Irving, Texas will work to design and implement applications following principles to build out the product and iterative enhancements. Write highly technical specification, translate business requirements into user stories, and convert to technical code and deliver it effectively. Leverage Agile development and continuous integration to ensure the simplest appropriate technology and design is chosen to meet the user’s needs. Coach, mentor, and lead junior Application Developers to write software, building products, create an environment of continuous learning, and constantly challenge and stretch the knowledge of the team. Design own systems to deliver products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems, code reviews, support deployment and ongoing maintenance. Own the application, and ultimately become accountable for the success of the digital products through achieving the Key Performance Indicators.
Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years experience in object oriented analysis, and design and development of web, enterprise and client/server applications in a highly structured Agile environment or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in object oriented analysis, and design and development of web, enterprise and client/server applications in a highly structured Agile environment. Must also possess the following: Demonstrated experience (DE) in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) according to the Agile methodologies for digital products; DE developing and designing digital products using Java/J2EE software including Spring Framework, Annotation, JPA2, and Hibernate frameworks; DE developing web services using Spring, Spring-Boot, REST Web Services, and JSON; DE using Relational Databases Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server and ORM technologies to improve query performance; and DE establishing continuous integration, delivery, and deployment using Jenkins pipelines, Github, and Maven/Gradle.
