Job Description Summary
Delivers concise and accurate risk control services to clients in assigned territory to assist in the control and prevention of losses. Provides technical advice and account information to underwriting business partners for risk assessment and analysis. May assume regional responsibilities for technically complex accounts.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conducts risk control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection.
  • Writes technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk and clearly articulates recommendations.
  • Consults with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses. Consistently influences clients to implement recommendations.
  • Builds and maintains productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to support the business, with the broker/agent community, with Claims, with other Risk Control staff, and with clients.
  • Conducts research for underwriters or clients on class of business, operations, unique or unidentified exposures, or any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.
  • Analyses loss trends, recognises opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services which can help reduce losses. Explains how their recommendations or products can help minimise losses.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory environment and emerging safety issues.
  • Strengthens and develops relationships with brokers and agents by inviting local consultants, brokers and agents on co-surveys when appropriate.
  • Operates in accordance with Travelers policies, procedures and controls (including audit requirements) at all times .
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of materials and guidelines for clients/brokers, including delivery of training/presentations/conferences/seminars as required.
  • Consults and negotiates with professional advisors, police, fire authorities, building control, etc regarding loss control management for protection/detection systems, to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Promotes Travelers products and philosophy by regular visits to clients' premises, maximising the opportunities for growth and profit of the commercial business.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in safety, risk control, or related fields including but not limited to construction, manufacturing or relevant military experience or bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Must be able to attain appropriate certification to meet legal requirements where applicable.

  • Communicating knowledge of his/her actions to his/her Manager and colleagues and to consider their impact on other technical, operational, sales and financial disciplines when formulating those actions.
