Job Description Summary
The Enterprise Catastrophe Strategy & Analysis group is seeking a Risk Consultant to join our Catastrophe Metrics Information Management team. You will be joining a group of dedicated professionals charged with leading Travelers to be in a position to endure catastrophic loss from natural and man-made perils.
The Team is responsible for state-of-the-art analytics using cutting-edge tools, quantitative methods, and technologies to assess risk from natural perils (e.g. hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, flood etc.) and man-made perils including terrorism and cyber risk. We engage in Enterprise-wide catastrophe modeling and analysis with various depths of focus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a candidate with a solid analytical base and a keen interest in catastrophe modeling. The position requires an individual who can succeed in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment, in tune with business needs and deadlines. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Portfolio modeling and analysis for the enterprise.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and business partners
  • Ability to manage projects independently, engage stakeholders and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties to develop analytical solutions for business needs.
  • Catastrophe model evaluation, sensitivity testing and validation.
  • Evaluate and recommend modeling tools for implementation in business processes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year relevant analytics experience required.
  • Position Level based on experience

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft suite, SQL, geospatial, statistical packages or other programs used to retrieve and analyze data preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Domain knowledge of primary P&C insurance market, a basic understanding of CAT modeling concepts and one or more vendor CAT models preferred.
  • CAT model certification is a plus.
  • Solid analytical and research skills dealing with issues that are not readily defined.
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or MS Access and Excel.
  • Programming language strongly preferred.
  • Self-motivated with ability to self-organize and drive analyses independently.
  • Strong communication and ability to convey technical concepts across professional fields of discipline.
  • Experience with geospatial a plus.
