Job Description

Job Summary:

The Allstate Innovation team helps drive Allstate’s future by identifying compelling business opportunities, developing selected opportunities into thriving businesses, and assisting Allstate businesses with meeting their innovation objectives. Allstate Innovation brings together skills in strategy, design, technology, and marketing to create new products and businesses. The Director of Innovation Product Management will drive Allstate Innovation’s projects and is responsible for ensuring that all project work incorporates creative solutions to complex customer needs.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Strategies and Plans

  • Lead the pursuit of business opportunities through a full digital product lifecycle of framing the opportunity, developing prototypes/minimally viable products, and creating a business model to effectively commercialize the product (including possibly integrating the product into other Allstate business units)
  • Ensure top-level strategic thinking and business analysis is infused in all projects within the Innovation team (not just projects you lead)
  • Develop staff to improve their strategy, business analysis and product management skills
  • Assist with identification of new business opportunities that may include new distribution channel initiatives, best practices and new products and services
  • Initiate or support innovations in all aspects of the entire product development lifecycle

Lead Integration and Execution

  • Work directly with stakeholders and cross functional teams including Technology, Analytics, Marketing and Sales to align on strategies and execution methods
  • Lead and ensure coordinated efforts across the organization to facilitate the implementation of initiatives
  • Provide thought leadership and high impact recommendations to senior leaders regarding initiatives and strategic fit
Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 12 or more years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Human Factors, Interaction Design, Sociocultural Anthropology, Psychology, or the like preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Management, preferably in consumer products providing data or identity security
  • Experience with all aspects of product management in the digital realm; comfortable engaging design, engineering, analytics, and marketing personnel to help each achieve excellence
  • Has successfully developed and built a new digital product overseeing the entire product lifecycle
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and leading teams through change. Experience building new businesses in dynamic industries
  • Experience in data privacy or identity protection product areas desired
  • Strong communicator; energetic consensus builders
  • Strong business acumen; ability to think creatively and strategically to capitalize on unstructured, fuzzy business situations
  • Concentrate on a wide range of loosely defined complex situations, which require application of creativity and originality, where guidance and counsel may be unavailable.
