Allstate’s Systems Engineering group is focused on creating products for our global developer community by designing and delivering frictionless creator experiences helping product teams move at the speed of ideas.
We’re looking for an experienced group product manager to lead our platform developer innovation portfolio. Developer experience is absolutely critical, and our goal is to provide our developers with the powerful tools and resources required to deliver end-to-end frictionless solutions.


As a Systems Engineer Senior Product Manager you are responsible for a team of product managers that define, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of multiple products or capabilities in the developer innovation space. Senior Product Managers do this by managing the strategic product portfolio vision and providing portfolio oversight related to execution to ensure that our platform teams are building the right solution(s), that everything comes together “just right” and that we are on track to achieve organizational objectives. They also accomplish this by actively coaching and mentoring product managers to ensure that they are thinking critically, gaining empathy for their users and growing in their roles. Senior Product Managers must be excellent coaches; proficient at orchestrating efforts across a portfolio; and experts at breaking down problems, identifying assumptions, and executing product discovery techniques.


Job Summary

  • Create, drive and execute product strategy for multiple technical products in the Systems Engineering developer innovation product portfolio.


  • Use customer feedback, market analysis, and data gathering to make decisions about product strategy.


  • Measure and optimize the success of your efforts and to inform the overall product strategy.


  • Invest significant time in coaching product managers, testing critical thinking skills and helping them to grow in their craft (this includes performance management). Help our customers understand our iterative development approach and focus on delivering a Minimum Viable Product through careful and deliberate prioritization.


  • Easily manage product backlogs, create effective user stories and provide timely stakeholder updates on development iterations.


  • Champion iterative development and the successful execution of agile rituals to ensure tight feedback loops and clear product definition.


  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers to develop and execute internal and external communications related to your product and/or portfolio.


  • Manage a portfolio of backlog that cuts across a suite of products in the portfolio.


  • Ability to run planning and prioritization of initiatives. Drive value driven feature delivery.


  • Drive implementation of department deliverables and achieving strategic organizational outcomes.


  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you had the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals.


  • Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team.


  • Clear passion for topics of technology and developer tools and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate in our product space.


  • Understanding of and experience working in a development environment including experience in Agile or Agile XP.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years relevant product management experience working on technical product development in a fast-paced environment while developing modern software platforms.


  • 5+ years of experience leading geo-located teams with direct reports.


  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs.


  • Entrepreneurial with experience shipping modern software.


  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business, preferred.

Compensation and Benefits include:

Compensation range for this position is $135,000 - $170,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
