Job Description Summary
As a member of the Small Commercial Senior Leadership Team, the individual will be a leader in the development and execution of long-term strategies that position the businesses within Small Commercial as market leaders. They will have responsibility for the product management functional discipline and scaling best practices across the Small Commercial businesses of Select, Agribusiness, Northland Transportation and Northfield E&S. The role has direct P&L accountability for Select products, working in collaboration with underwriting and sales functions across the U.S. and Canada. The role will provide expertise around manufacturing and managing granular pricing sophistication within a high-volume business while balancing the need for individual risk underwriting for more complex accounts. It is critical for this role to cultivate a deep understanding of the current and future needs of the small business owner, target customer and distribution as he/she leads the strategic capability development and disciplined performance management of Small Commercial. As a leader within Travelers Business Insurance the individual will be expected to scale capabilities across all BI products where appropriate. This role is a senior level manager that will be a leader of both of an individual organization but also across the Travelers Enterprise. This includes collaborating with all functions and all level of resources to create an inclusive culture where the best idea can deployed to advance initiatives for Business Insurance in addition to Small Commercial.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Accountable for Product Management function and overall P&L accountability for ~$3B North American Travelers Select products (U.S. and Canada).
  • Responsibility for the oversight of product management capabilities and scaling of best practices across ~$1B specialty businesses of Agribusiness, Northfield E&S, and Transportation.
  • This position will require a significant partnership across functional partners to shape and influence the Small Commercial business strategies and the investments that support market leadership and shareholder value across Business Insurance.
  • Working across BI to optimize pricing models and how they interact with underwriting processes to effectively monitor effectiveness and tune execution.
  • Responsible for developing extensive analytics to identify and understand the changing dynamic needs of customers to drive targeted product a solutions and strategies for profitable business.
  • Regularly analyzing the competitive landscape and understand potential disruptors in the marketplace. Develop innovative product strategies that allow us to remain competitive in the marketplace.
  • Develop strategies that allow business to quickly pivot and quickly respond to evolving business and customer landscape within an agile process.
  • Builds and strengthens high-performing teams, driving the talent strategy in a manner that fosters learning, inclusion, and diversity in the work culture.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10-15 years leadership/management of others required.
  • 15 years insurance experience with advanced understanding of products, underwriting coverage, rules, forms, regulatory environment, risk management, pricing/filing processes, underwriting processes, and insurance financials required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible and successful experience in product management, pricing, underwriting, finance or related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of P&C insurance products, systems, underwriting, claims, distribution channels, regulatory.
  • Broad cross-industry knowledge with experience in senior level general management functions.
