Job Summary

The Marketing, Advertising and Media Category Team sources and manages a combination of categories in support of Sourcing and Procurement Solutions (SPS) objectives. SPS delivers procurement value and enables internal stakeholders to deliver on their commitments through sourcing, careful contract negotiations, and securing best value for our internal stakeholders.

With leadership direction, a Procurement Sourcing Consultant sources and manages a combination of assignments and categories of medium to high complexity and risk in support of SPS’s objectives. The key categories handled by the Procurement Sourcing Consultant include Marketing, Creative Services, Production Services, Agency Relationships, Digital Marketing Services, Sponsorship Services and Media Placement Services. Additional category responsibilities might include other types of other Marketing Services such as, Paid Search, Social, Mobile and Display Advertising.

This role consults with internal stakeholders by coordinating sourcing/project teams and integrating efforts across functions and teams. This role utilizes a Strategic Sourcing methodology to deliver procurement value which enables internal stakeholders to deliver on their marketing goals and objective. This role assists in recommending and developing category sourcing strategies, solutions, and processes to govern internal consumption of medium to high complexity marketing spend categories, and drafts communications, compliance/usage reports, presentation materials, and demand management policies in support of the assigned marketing categories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use strong industry knowledge to collaborate and consult with Marketing internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and objectives and establish requirements.
  • Help execute sourcing strategies for key projects which includes ability to create and utilize the most appropriate sourcing tools/templates, align business internal stakeholders needs, identify supply alternatives (inclusive of diverse Agencies), effectively communicate with Agencies, and influence cross functional teams/advisory groups.
  • Proactively assess sourcing and category opportunities by gathering historical spend information, understanding marketing’s purchasing patterns, assessing competitive position, developing analysis of agency/category economics (clean sheeting, total cost of ownership, etc.), industry and market conditions, and expiring contracts.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand business objectives, requirements, market /industry benchmarks/trends, and company purchasing patterns to assess sourcing opportunities.
  • Leverages support teams internal and external to support category initiative implementation and to develop and manage procurement project pipeline and metrics for overseeing performance and risk.
  • Develop and effectively lead execution of the sourcing strategy for medium to high complex sourcing projects which includes ability to create and utilize appropriate sourcing tools / templates, align internal stakeholders needs, follow standard operating procedures established to execute source to pay processes.
  • Develop Agency selection criteria and gain internal stakeholders alignment, facilitate cross functional teams to evaluate Agency responses to select finalists (participate if appropriate) and effectively communicate the impact of sourcing decisions to involved internal stakeholders, management, impacted employees and Agencies, as appropriate.
  • Negotiations for medium to high complex sourcing projects to drive a clear understanding of agency performance expectations. Provides transparency into savings opportunities and work with business stakeholders and category management to establish success criteria.
  • With supplier management to facilitate business reviews with suppliers and internal stakeholders to measure supplier performance, contract adherence and identify performance issues and manage resolution through on-going process/service delivery improvement.
  • Lead discussions with internal business stakeholders, expense managers, and key stakeholders to identify demand management guidelines which will govern the use of the commodities being contracted for. Leverage data and analytics to provide intelligence analysis and reporting on a sourcing event.

  • Strengthen, expand, share, and utilize internal and external relationships within the marketing category.
  • Provide effective communication (written, conversation) for medium to high complexity topics to influence and gain acceptance and approval of ideas, proposals and solutions from Marketing Leadership.
  • Participate in discussions and consult with internal stakeholders, expense managers, and key stakeholders to develop and implement demand management guidelines to govern the use of assigned commodities.
  • Measure internal compliance with demand management guidelines and take corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Understand Allstate’s overall agency management framework.
  • In partnership, with marketing internal stakeholders, monitor agency performance and escalate issues.
  • Help drive the Performance Management for assigned agencies by documenting and reviewing agency service levels and performance.
  • Develop and manage agency incentive compensation models where appropriate.
  • Assist with enhancing agency management activities to optimize agency performance.
  • Participate in and contribute to business review meetings with agencies and marketing stakeholders to measure agency performance, contract adherence and issue resolution.
  • Document lessons learned and help progressively enhance agency management activities to optimize agency performance.
  • Utilize and ensure all appropriate documentation and internal control/compliance standards are met (process, templates, tools, contract database, etc.).
Job Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management and/or a business-related field with experience in the Marketing/advertising category
  • MBA a plus
  • CPSM (CPM) designation preferred
  • 5-7 years business experience in sourcing and procurement, supplier management, or the marketing industry
  • Media Placement Services, Paid Search, Digital Media and Marketing Services and Sponsorship Services category knowledge is preferred;
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of procurement and marketing techniques and principles
    • Sourcing process, negotiations, contracting, Agency management, Agency diversity, industry/trend analysis, metrics/measurement, etc.
    • Procurement tools (i.e., financial reporting tools, contract management tools, e-auctions, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Marketing and Advertising industry
  • Experience with RFP development and execution using Ariba
  • Experience with negotiations and contracting with appropriate Service Levels and/or compensation models to measure performance via appropriate Service Levels
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, to interact independently with both internal customers and external Agencies at all staff levels
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to summarize and prioritize souring projects and review with upper management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proficient in Ariba and its various associated modules
Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
