Job Description Summary
The Travelers Catastrophe Risk Management group is seeking a Consultant to join our team. You will be joining a group of dedicated professionals charged with leading Travelers to be in position to successfully endure catastrophic loss from natural and man-made perils.
The Catastrophe Risk Management team is responsible for state-of-the-art analytics related to natural and man-made hazards. The team uses cutting edge tools, quantitative methods, and technologies to evaluate risk. We engage in Enterprise-wide multi-disciplinary catastrophe research projects with various depths of focus.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops working knowledge of catastrophe risk evaluation.
  • Creates and maintain collaborative relationships with business partners.
  • Assist with quantitative and analytic support for reporting, including interpreting results.
  • Gathers data and analyzes trends and results.
  • Completes analysis and presents recommendations to team members and manager.
  • Analyzes policyholder/reinsurance coverage and impact to catastrophe results.
  • Perform catastrophe peril research, partnering with subject matter experts.
  • Assist with business and market result interpretation.
  • Participate in coordinated event response.
  • Analyzes exposure to impacted event and hazard footprint.
  • Stay abreast of scientific research and available 3rd party data to quantify risk.
  • Identifies, selects and extracts relevant data from various internal and external sources.
  • Provide support to business partners in responding to internal and external requests. (i.e. support response to external Regulatory Requests)

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year relevant analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Basic knowledge SQL, geospatial, statistical packages or other programs used to retrieve and analyze data preferred.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and Access preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and Catastrophe models a plus!
  • The ability to work in a fast pace environment with a sense of urgency is preferred.
