Job Summary

Data, Discovery, and Decision Science (D3) is the enterprise data and analytics organization at Allstate.  We are solving some of today’s most complicated analytics problems, making the lives of our of Allstate colleagues easier and more productive, and driving our mission to deliver perfect protection solutions to our customers.  We are avid about learning new ways to get the most value from our massive data resources.  As a D3 employee, you will get 10% of your time to innovate, learn, collaborate, and teach. We are partnering to incorporate analytics into every aspect of the enterprise. Developing ourselves and others is key to our success.

The Communications Senior Consultant will support a broad range of D3 internal communications functions, with the goal of promoting a positive team culture, advancing our environment of continuously learning from one another, and providing communications channels for leadership communication.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Communications Project Management:

    Completes key communication projects and develops communication strategies to effectively deliver departmental communication and drive employee engagement.
  • Storytelling and Content Creation:

     Write, and support others in writing, content that aligns with corporate narratives and storylines, modifying them for use across channels like the D3 weekly newsletter, AllConnect page, Teams site, and Allstate TV channel.
  • Promote awareness of shared communications tools and self-service:

    Maintains D3 Communications Resources including branding guidelines, metrics for communications including annual Department Communications Survey
  • Event Orchestration:

    Takes a lead role in planning and execution of quarterly department meetings and other large-scale communication venues. Brings creativity and professionalism to all communications activities, and keeps audience at the forefront in building informative, authentic and interesting content. Gather content from internal and external presenters, and bring together into a concise, cohesive presentation.
  • Support

    of Employee Communications and Culture Activities:

    Track weekly employee announcements process, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and timeliness. Coordinate features to recognize employees’ accomplishments in various channels, for example, milestone anniversaries. Supports communications of department Inspire results. 
  • Channel Management:

    Maintain platforms like Allstate TV, AllConnect, Teams, Confluence and D3-Communications mailbox, ensuring proactive management keeps content fresh and processes are applied consistently across all users and teams.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communication, marketing, journalism or related field. 
  • 5 years of experience in corporate communication or public relations preferred; insurance or financial services business acumen a plus. 


Functional Skills



  • Exceptional Communication Skills: In-depth understanding of stakeholders and how to communicate effectively and with influence through written, multimedia, digital and in-person communications. Strong PowerPoint skills. Comprehensive expertise in leading-edge communication theories, techniques and technologies. Highly proficient in Associated Press style.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated understanding of the insurance or financial services industry. Understanding of Allstate’s business and our varied distribution channels a plus.
  • Strategic Planning: Identify and follow through on opportunities for integration to strengthen messaging and the reach of communication. Proactively find and track new communication tactics that will help advance strategic priorities.
